incredible ░░░░░░░░ of good memories Today ░░░░░░░░ and the world in ░░░░░░░░ view lost a remarkable ░░░░░░░░ He was a statesman ░░░░░░░░ humanitarian And Jill and ░░░░░░░░ lost a dear friend ░░░░░░░░ ve been hanging out ░░░░░░░░ Jimmy Carter for over ░░░░░░░░ years it dawned on ░░░░░░░░ and I had countless ░░░░░░░░ with him over those ░░░░░░░░ and I always would ░░░░░░░░ proud to say that ░░░░░░░░ he used to kid ░░░░░░░░ about it that I ░░░░░░░░ the first national figure ░░░░░░░░ endorse him in 1976 ░░░░░░░░ he ran for president ░░░░░░░░ was an overwhelming reason ░░░░░░░░ it his character What ░░░░░░░░ find extraordinary about Jimmy ░░░░░░░░ though is that millions ░░░░░░░░ people all around the ░░░░░░░░ all over the world ░░░░░░░░ they lost a friend ░░░░░░░░ well even though they ░░░░░░░░ met him And that ░░░░░░░░ because Jimmy Carter lived ░░░░░░░░ life measured not by ░░░░░░░░ but by his deeds ░░░░░░░░ look at his life ░░░░░░░░ life s work He ░░░░░░░░ to eradicate disease not ░░░░░░░░ at home but around ░░░░░░░░ world He forged peace ░░░░░░░░ civil rights human rights ░░░░░░░░ free and fair elections ░░░░░░░░ the world He built ░░░░░░░░ for the homeless with ░░░░░░░░ own hands and his ░░░░░░░░ and moral clarity lifted ░░░░░░░░ up and changed lives ░░░░░░░░ saved lives all over ░░░░░░░░ globe Jimmy Carter was ░░░░░░░░ as courageous in his ░░░░░░░░ against cancer as he ░░░░░░░░ in everything in his ░░░░░░░░ Cancer was a common ░░░░░░░░ between our two families ░░░░░░░░ of many other families ░░░░░░░░ son Beau died When ░░░░░░░░ died Jimmy and Rosalynn ░░░░░░░░ there to help us ░░░░░░░░ Jimmy knew the ravages ░░░░░░░░ the disease too well ░░░░░░░░ lost his father his ░░░░░░░░ his sisters to this ░░░░░░░░ disease So when Jimmy ░░░░░░░░ diagnosed we did our ░░░░░░░░ to comfort him We ░░░░░░░░ with him down in ░░░░░░░░ We met with him ░░░░░░░░ we talked and shared ░░░░░░░░ beliefs that as a ░░░░░░░░ we have the talent ░░░░░░░░ have the talent and ░░░░░░░░ resources to one day ░░░░░░░░ cancer as we know ░░░░░░░░ if we make the ░░░░░░░░ He believed that like ░░░░░░░░ do I ll always ░░░░░░░░ having seen Jimmy and ░░░░░░░░ Carter together Theirs was ░░░░░░░░ love affair of the ░░░░░░░░ I will miss them ░░░░░░░░ dearly I do take ░░░░░░░░ solace in that as ░░░░░░░░ kids are saying it ░░░░░░░░ they re united once ░░░░░░░░ They re going to ░░░░░░░░ forever in our hearts ░░░░░░░░ they re together again ░░░░░░░░ the entire Carter family ░░░░░░░░ behalf of the world ░░░░░░░░ whole nation we send ░░░░░░░░ whole heartfelt sympathies and ░░░░░░░░ Our statesman all over the ░░░░░░░░ But to know his ░░░░░░░░ you need to know ░░░░░░░░ never stopped being a ░░░░░░░░ school teacher at that ░░░░░░░░ church in Plains Georgia ░░░░░░░░ s world some look ░░░░░░░░ Jimmy Carter and see ░░░░░░░░ man of a bygone ░░░░░░░░ with honesty and character ░░░░░░░░ faith and humility It ░░░░░░░░ But I don t ░░░░░░░░ it s a bygone ░░░░░░░░ I see a man ░░░░░░░░ only of our times ░░░░░░░░ for all times Someone ░░░░░░░░ embodied the most fundamental ░░░░░░░░ values we can never ░░░░░░░░ slip away although sometimes ░░░░░░░░ seems like it is ░░░░░░░░ we may never see ░░░░░░░░ like again we d ░░░░░░░░ do well to try ░░░░░░░░ be a little more ░░░░░░░░ Jimmy Carter You know ░░░░░░░░ mom you ve heard ░░░░░░░░ say this before used ░░░░░░░░ say Bravery lives in
