CNN’s Tapper to Mike Johnson: Do You Think the American People Are Prepared for the Impact of Mass Deportations?

TAPPER Do you think ░░░░░░░░ the American people are ░░░░░░░░ for if all whatever ░░░░░░░░ is 20 million undocumented ░░░░░░░░ are deported do you ░░░░░░░░ the American people are ░░░░░░░░ for not only the ░░░░░░░░ disruption in the work ░░░░░░░░ and the economy I ░░░░░░░░ it s like 5 ░░░░░░░░ of the work force ░░░░░░░░ undocumented but also the ░░░░░░░░ that we re going ░░░░░░░░ be seeing images of ░░░░░░░░ separated people taken out ░░░░░░░░ the communities they have ░░░░░░░░ in for years Do ░░░░░░░░ think the American people ░░░░░░░░ fully prepared for that ░░░░░░░░ I m not sure ░░░░░░░░ s what s going ░░░░░░░░ happen Jake I think ░░░░░░░░ the president s talking ░░░░░░░░ is beginning with the ░░░░░░░░ persons that we know ░░░░░░░░ here There are criminals ░░░░░░░░ criminals There are known ░░░░░░░░ in the country There ░░░░░░░░ some who have been ░░░░░░░░ apprehended for committing violent ░░░░░░░░ after they have come ░░░░░░░░ the border illegally So ░░░░░░░░ start with that number ░░░░░░░░ have got by some ░░░░░░░░ as many as three ░░░░░░░░ four million people that ░░░░░░░░ that category Begin there ░░░░░░░░ then see how it ░░░░░░░░ This will take a ░░░░░░░░ of thoughtful work and ░░░░░░░░ And I think the ░░░░░░░░ is of exactly the ░░░░░░░░ mind And look the ░░░░░░░░ people want us to ░░░░░░░░ order and immigration For ░░░░░░░░ years we have had ░░░░░░░░ wide open border The ░░░░░░░░ Administration did that intentionally ░░░░░░░░ s the reason that ░░░░░░░░ had to take the ░░░░░░░░ measure of impeaching Alejandro ░░░░░░░░ the Secretary of DHS ░░░░░░░░ it s the reason ░░░░░░░░ think one of the ░░░░░░░░ reasons that Kamala Harris ░░░░░░░░ Joe Biden himself when ░░░░░░░░ was running had no ░░░░░░░░ of being re elected ░░░░░░░░ everywhere I went around of all ░░░░░░░░ the undocumented immigrants And ░░░░░░░░ of the reasons why ░░░░░░░░ presence in cities is ░░░░░░░░ and why Democrats lost ░░░░░░░░ in the election in ░░░░░░░░ like New York is ░░░░░░░░ of the degree to ░░░░░░░░ these migrants were sapping ░░░░░░░░ I can t think ░░░░░░░░ a better term for ░░░░░░░░ But like they were ░░░░░░░░ for them was costing ░░░░░░░░ lot of money and ░░░░░░░░ that cities didn t ░░░░░░░░ So the promise is ░░░░░░░░ to get rid of ░░░░░░░░ of them I m ░░░░░░░░ saying my position on ░░░░░░░░ one way or the ░░░░░░░░ but it s more ░░░░░░░░ just the criminals we ░░░░░░░░ talking Johnson Well look ░░░░░░░░ m not sure what ░░░░░░░░ specific promise is I ░░░░░░░░ the president said that ░░░░░░░░ wanted to engage in ░░░░░░░░ largest mass deportation effort ░░░░░░░░ in history because that ░░░░░░░░ what is called for ░░░░░░░░ mean you admitted yourself ░░░░░░░░ may be as many ░░░░░░░░ 20 million undocumented persons ░░░░░░░░ aliens in the country ░░░░░░░░ this is a concern ░░░░░░░░ communities all across America ░░░░░░░░ just the big cities ░░░░░░░░ rural areas as well ░░░░░░░░ they have been sent ░░░░░░░░ over the nation We ░░░░░░░░ to send a message ░░░░░░░░ people around the world ░░░░░░░░ the open door is ░░░░░░░░ being closed and that ░░░░░░░░ are going to restore ░░░░░░░░ and order And I ░░░░░░░░ that s what the ░░░░░░░░ people are very hopeful ░░░░░░░░ expecting that we will ░░░░░░░░ upon And we will ░░░░░░░░ President Trump s committed ░░░░░░░░ it He s the ░░░░░░░░ to do it TAPPER ░░░░░░░░ when you talk about ░░░░░░░░ communities a lot of ░░░░░░░░ in rural communities are ░░░░░░░░ work that Americans don ░░░░░░░░ want to do And ░░░░░░░░ is a lot of ░░░░░░░░ that deporting all of ░░░░░░░░ undocumented immigrants will actually ░░░░░░░░ a deleterious effect on ░░░░░░░░ economy Is that going ░░░░░░░░ be taken into an ░░░░░░░░ Will there be a ░░░░░░░░ for individuals who are ░░░░░░░░ but here peaceably here ░░░░░░░░ part of the economy ░░░░░░░░ paying taxes and the ░░░░░░░░ is there going to ░░░░░░░░ a way for them ░░░░░░░░ find some sort of ░░░░░░░░ status I m not ░░░░░░░░ about a path to ░░░░░░░░ but a legal status ░░░░░░░░ there isn t this ░░░░░░░░ disruption of the economy ░░░░░░░░ say nothing of the ░░░░░░░░ who have kids in ░░░░░░░░ and the like Johnson ░░░░░░░░ won t get ahead ░░░░░░░░ the president the administration ░░░░░░░░ what the specifics of ░░░░░░░░ policies will be but ░░░░░░░░ can tell you that ░░░░░░░░ is a real appetite ░░░░░░░░ Congress to solve this ░░░░░░░░ We do need work ░░░░░░░░ We need to encourage ░░░░░░░░ immigration and these work ░░░░░░░░ that have been very ░░░░░░░░ But we need everybody ░░░░░░░░ this country to follow ░░░░░░░░ laws I don t ░░░░░░░░ that s asking for ░░░░░░░░ And I think that ░░░░░░░░ what the people want ░░░░░░░░ to get back to.”
