JD Vance to Rogan: Liberals Should Learn from ‘Boyz n the Hood,’ Math Isn’t ‘Racist’

Vance Okay so this ░░░░░░░░ interesting There s this ░░░░░░░░ that s probably like ░░░░░░░░ influential to my entire ░░░░░░░░ worldview And I didn ░░░░░░░░ realize it until last ░░░░░░░░ Because I got into ░░░░░░░░ late usually my wife ░░░░░░░░ with me She wasn ░░░░░░░░ with me last night ░░░░░░░░ s taking care of ░░░░░░░░ kids today So I ░░░░░░░░ I get into the ░░░░░░░░ room in Austin and ░░░░░░░░ s very late And ░░░░░░░░ watch this movie Boyz ░░░░░░░░ the Hood Have you ░░░░░░░░ seen Boyz n the ░░░░░░░░ Rogan Oh yeah sure ░░░░░░░░ Okay I watched that ░░░░░░░░ a ton when I ░░░░░░░░ like eight nine years ░░░░░░░░ And I didn t ░░░░░░░░ how much that movie ░░░░░░░░ had an influence on ░░░░░░░░ until I watched it ░░░░░░░░ night Okay So alright ░░░░░░░░ Styles A lot of ░░░░░░░░ stuff about not letting ░░░░░░░░ institutions buy up all ░░░░░░░░ stuff in your communities ░░░░░░░░ he s talking about ░░░░░░░░ people in L A ░░░░░░░░ not you know white ░░░░░░░░ in you know rural ░░░░░░░░ town America But I ░░░░░░░░ like oh like that ░░░░░░░░ that s maybe the ░░░░░░░░ place that I ever ░░░░░░░░ this idea Or he ░░░░░░░░ about like the importance ░░░░░░░░ fatherhood the importance of ░░░░░░░░ young boys having a ░░░░░░░░ in the home It ░░░░░░░░ like I got that ░░░░░░░░ Boyz n the Hood ░░░░░░░░ obviously it spoke to ░░░░░░░░ when I was a ░░░░░░░░ because I grew up ░░░░░░░░ the time I didn ░░░░░░░░ have much of a ░░░░░░░░ with my dad And ░░░░░░░░ s it s interesting ░░░░░░░░ He makes this observation ░░░░░░░░ being racist He s ░░░░░░░░ the SAT for being ░░░░░░░░ biased But then he ░░░░░░░░ the only part that ░░░░░░░░ t culturally biased is ░░░░░░░░ math And it s ░░░░░░░░ oh this is like ░░░░░░░░ black nationalist in the ░░░░░░░░ eighties Because that s ░░░░░░░░ s kind of the ░░░░░░░░ of this movie is ░░░░░░░░ you might call like ░░░░░░░░ school black leftism This ░░░░░░░░ in the 1980s is ░░░░░░░░ something that I wish ░░░░░░░░ lot of white liberals ░░░░░░░░ hear today which is ░░░░░░░░ math is not racist ░░░░░░░░ s laughs it s ░░░░░░░░ of the things that ░░░░░░░░ like not definitively not ░░░░░░░░ is math and numbers ░░░░░░░░ guys are losing your ░░░░░░░░ minds Rogan Well math ░░░░░░░░ racist is one of ░░░░░░░░ ones where you it ░░░░░░░░ like if you heard ░░░░░░░░ in a cocktail party ░░░░░░░░ d be like, what?”
