here ░░░░░░░░ President we going to ░░░░░░░░ you sit right here ░░░░░░░░ this the chair it ░░░░░░░░ the hot chair be ░░░░░░░░ right though I got ░░░░░░░░ I got you I ░░░░░░░░ just saying certain chair ░░░░░░░░ s everybody Vice President ░░░░░░░░ thank you so much ░░░░░░░░ uh coming and being ░░░░░░░░ us to have this ░░░░░░░░ inside Barber Shop indeed ░░░░░░░░ s where all the ░░░░░░░░ gets that s where ░░░░░░░░ news get shared you ░░░░░░░░ like this we kind ░░░░░░░░ breaking the code you ░░░░░░░░ we got you in ░░░░░░░░ barber shop you know ░░░░░░░░ s a little private ░░░░░░░░ not my first time ░░░░░░░░ I m saying we ░░░░░░░░ got you in here ░░░░░░░░ but no before you ░░░░░░░░ we were literally just ░░░░░░░░ know talking and all ░░░░░░░░ brothers were just sharing ░░░░░░░░ experiences of who they ░░░░░░░░ so I just wanted ░░░░░░░░ to you know kind ░░░░░░░░ start off and you ░░░░░░░░ Shakur over here uh ░░░░░░░░ a Dean of students ░░░░░░░░ he works with our ░░░░░░░░ people every day he ░░░░░░░░ telling me about how ░░░░░░░░ got an education so ░░░░░░░░ want to go ahead ░░░░░░░░ tell the vice president ░░░░░░░░ name is Shakur Woodson ░░░░░░░░ m 30 years old ░░░░░░░░ m from Phil born ░░░░░░░░ raised Uptown to be ░░░░░░░░ uh I ve been ░░░░░░░░ education for 10 years ░░░░░░░░ I started off at ░░░░░░░░ a teachers assistant in ░░░░░░░░ school in North Philly ░░░░░░░░ the school lost a ░░░░░░░░ I ve been like ░░░░░░░░ to like figure out ░░░░░░░░ I m going to ░░░░░░░░ if education was still ░░░░░░░░ me then I started ░░░░░░░░ work in Camden New ░░░░░░░░ at a kip High ░░░░░░░░ mean at a kip ░░░░░░░░ School oh you re ░░░░░░░░ at Kip I was ░░░░░░░░ was there for six ░░░░░░░░ and then I came ░░░░░░░░ over to Philly cuz ░░░░░░░░ felt like it was ░░░░░░░░ for me to lay ░░░░░░░░ Roots down in my ░░░░░░░░ City like I ve ░░░░░░░░ giving a lot of ░░░░░░░░ energy and time to ░░░░░░░░ like another state and ░░░░░░░░ kids but I think ░░░░░░░░ s time now for ░░░░░░░░ to like give my ░░░░░░░░ like my energy and ░░░░░░░░ all and I ve ░░░░░░░░ in Philly for the ░░░░░░░░ 3 years of my ░░░░░░░░ you know um sadly ░░░░░░░░ 1 of teachers in ░░░░░░░░ schools are black men ░░░░░░░░ for sure 1 it ░░░░░░░░ a little bit less ░░░░░░░░ yeah it s crazy ░░░░░░░░ you know the the ░░░░░░░░ are if a black ░░░░░░░░ has a black teacher ░░░░░░░░ the end of third ░░░░░░░░ they re like 133 ░░░░░░░░ likely toed but to ░░░░░░░░ to college even if ░░░░░░░░ have had two black ░░░░░░░░ by the end of ░░░░░░░░ grade like 30 more ░░░░░░░░ and you know part ░░░░░░░░ actually my focus and ░░░░░░░░ is what we ve ░░░░░░░░ to do to create ░░░░░░░░ which really are not ░░░░░░░░ incentives in terms of ░░░░░░░░ will but also we ░░░░░░░░ t pay teachers enough ░░░░░░░░ student loan debt is ░░░░░░░░ issue you know and ░░░░░░░░ about how we create ░░░░░░░░ to actually recruit and ░░░░░░░░ more black men as ░░░░░░░░ because we know the ░░░░░░░░ to overall Society um ░░░░░░░░ in particular to our ░░░░░░░░ you know it s ░░░░░░░░ you say that Vice ░░░░░░░░ we literally were talking ░░░░░░░░ m I m a ░░░░░░░░ school teacher as well ░░░░░░░░ taught Middle School social ░░░░░░░░ oh bless you you ░░░░░░░░ what people always say ░░░░░░░░ can I tell you ░░░░░░░░ love Middle School people ░░░░░░░░ talk about the little ░░░░░░░░ that I could not ░░░░░░░░ was a four an ░░░░░░░░ stage for them really ░░░░░░░░ guess not for us ░░░░░░░░ it was fun I ░░░░░░░░ now I was younger ░░░░░░░░ so it was like ░░░░░░░░ yeah now I I ░░░░░░░░ t know if I ░░░░░░░░ do it but we ░░░░░░░░ what we were talking ░░░░░░░░ is representation and why ░░░░░░░░ matters and Nehemiah is ░░░░░░░░ uh TV film and ░░░░░░░░ and you know he ░░░░░░░░ telling us one of ░░░░░░░░ reasons why he wanted ░░░░░░░░ get involved is because ░░░░░░░░ wanted to see more ░░░░░░░░ uh of himself in ░░░░░░░░ space so that s ░░░░░░░░ so Nehemiah you know ░░░░░░░░ telling me what you ░░░░░░░░ talking about earlier yeah ░░░░░░░░ were talking about how ░░░░░░░░ um I ve been ░░░░░░░░ up stories my entire ░░░░░░░░ and how I wanted ░░░░░░░░ put that on the ░░░░░░░░ and you see these ░░░░░░░░ you see these action ░░░░░░░░ and None of them ░░░░░░░░ like you so I ░░░░░░░░ writing my own stuff ░░░░░░░░ I m still doing ░░░░░░░░ I m not as ░░░░░░░░ as these guys but ░░░░░░░░ m going to be ░░░░░░░░ they are trying to ░░░░░░░░ a a little bit ░░░░░░░░ of a formative person ░░░░░░░░ but the impact that ░░░░░░░░ representation cool representation being ░░░░░░░░ to see yourself as ░░░░░░░░ as a heroic figure ░░░░░░░░ s right I even ░░░░░░░░ Spider Man cuz I ░░░░░░░░ like everybody like Spider ░░░░░░░░ taking off the mask ░░░░░░░░ be able to see ░░░░░░░░ Batman you know Batman ░░░░░░░░ s Laughter like really ░░░░░░░░ tell me the characters ░░░░░░░░ re writing so right ░░░░░░░░ we are doing this ░░░░░░░░ kind of death of ░░░░░░░░ a cowboy type thing ░░░░░░░░ is kind of going ░░░░░░░░ a midlife crisis we ░░░░░░░░ trying to hit through ░░░░░░░░ that people have in ░░░░░░░░ life everybody feels lonely ░░░░░░░░ feels like just things ░░░░░░░░ t going your way ░░░░░░░░ when you look around ░░░░░░░░ way that Society is ░░░░░░░░ constructed the way that ░░░░░░░░ s just everything is ░░░░░░░░ against you no matter ░░░░░░░░ you are you re ░░░░░░░░ to have to hit ░░░░░░░░ same road blocks in ░░░░░░░░ and we want to ░░░░░░░░ so that everybody feels ░░░░░░░░ in that because you ░░░░░░░░ relate to that deep ░░░░░░░░ regardless of who you ░░░░░░░░ a feeling that isolation ░░░░░░░░ we want to do ░░░░░░░░ do it in a ░░░░░░░░ way reach out but ░░░░░░░░ s just I feel ░░░░░░░░ my main thing is ░░░░░░░░ make something cool and ░░░░░░░░ people will come see ░░░░░░░░ and uh that s ░░░░░░░░ s really what we ░░░░░░░░ been focusing on I ░░░░░░░░ been traveling from Philly ░░░░░░░░ New York to Atlanta ░░░░░░░░ trying to get my ░░░░░░░░ and when you hear ░░░░░░░░ you re a film ░░░░░░░░ like the numbers start ░░░░░░░░ in the head that ░░░░░░░░ in 2020 I decided ░░░░░░░░ do that terrible financial ░░░░░░░░ I m kind of ░░░░░░░░ but you know I ░░░░░░░░ you know working to ░░░░░░░░ re an artist I ░░░░░░░░ you know what you ░░░░░░░░ signing over right but ░░░░░░░░ were talking about student ░░░░░░░░ debt student Lo attach ░░░░░░░░ your Artistry so talk ░░░░░░░░ s it s you ░░░░░░░░ you know what I ░░░░░░░░ talking about it s ░░░░░░░░ comes in with everything ░░░░░░░░ it makes it so ░░░░░░░░ they already say that ░░░░░░░░ can t do these ░░░░░░░░ unless you have a ░░░░░░░░ education they say that ░░░░░░░░ can do other things ░░░░░░░░ we know that s ░░░░░░░░ true I can go ░░░░░░░░ an indeed I can ░░░░░░░░ to any job site ░░░░░░░░ re asking for 16 ░░░░░░░░ of experience and that ░░░░░░░░ just not something someone ░░░░░░░░ of the gate s ░░░░░░░░ to have I wanted ░░░░░░░░ that younger filmmakers dreamers ░░░░░░░░ that want to put ░░░░░░░░ on the screen they ░░░░░░░░ t have the same ░░░░░░░░ that I had that ░░░░░░░░ had to take out ░░░░░░░░ loan go to these ░░░░░░░░ Sharks obviously student loan ░░░░░░░░ is something you have ░░░░░░░░ passionate about but uh ░░░░░░░░ not just that but ░░░░░░░░ publicly funded uh programs ░░░░░░░░ these schools one of ░░░░░░░░ things about like even ░░░░░░░░ Europe they have publicly ░░░░░░░░ theater programs publicly funded ░░░░░░░░ where you can reach ░░░░░░░░ get invested and and ░░░░░░░░ Funding in the Arts ░░░░░░░░ a huge issue and ░░░░░░░░ your point even if ░░░░░░░░ a child does not ░░░░░░░░ that s not their ░░░░░░░░ or their right their ░░░░░░░░ just bringing Arts to ░░░░░░░░ kids allows them to EXP
