physical ░░░░░░░░ teachers peers amongst others ░░░░░░░░ the experience of women ░░░░░░░░ girls is often sadly ░░░░░░░░ reflection of this wider ░░░░░░░░ in society In some ░░░░░░░░ as we have seen ░░░░░░░░ Afghanistan women and girls ░░░░░░░░ category from playing in ░░░░░░░░ on account of their ░░░░░░░░ In other contexts societies ░░░░░░░░ expectation of the rules ░░░░░░░░ behaviors limits their ability ░░░░░░░░ play sports for example ░░░░░░░░ of the disproportionate burden ░░░░░░░░ care responsibilities concerns for ░░░░░░░░ to the female chastity ░░░░░░░░ reputation if she were ░░░░░░░░ play or because female ░░░░░░░░ don t have the ░░░░░░░░ access to resources and ░░░░░░░░ the deputy ambassador just ░░░░░░░░ visibility including by the ░░░░░░░░ financial investment discrimination against women ░░░░░░░░ is also often the ░░░░░░░░ in society So we ░░░░░░░░ that for example in ░░░░░░░░ violence where black female ░░░░░░░░ and those belonging to ░░░░░░░░ racial minorities may experience ░░░░░░░░ harassment and racism So ░░░░░░░░ view of all the ░░░░░░░░ the fact that we ░░░░░░░░ women and girls that ░░░░░░░░ sports either at amateur ░░░░░░░░ or at elite level ░░░░░░░░ all the barriers is ░░░░░░░░ times nothing short of ░░░░░░░░ miracle miracle and a ░░░░░░░░ to the female athletes ░░░░░░░░ perseverance and stamina In ░░░░░░░░ context every day in ░░░░░░░░ becomes a form of ░░░░░░░░ and a push back ░░░░░░░░ the many barriers disappointments ░░░░░░░░ and dangers A true ░░░░░░░░ of the realities and ░░░░░░░░ that women and girls ░░░░░░░░ daily both in and ░░░░░░░░ of sports At the ░░░░░░░░ time and as was ░░░░░░░░ it is profoundly troubling ░░░░░░░░ girls in sports experience ░░░░░░░░ early on that being ░░░░░░░░ is treated as a ░░░░░░░░ and there s a ░░░░░░░░ factor that exposes them ░░░░░░░░ different forms of violence ░░░░░░░░ their sexual physical or ░░░░░░░░ The reasons for such ░░░░░░░░ discrimination other and fairness ░░░░░░░░ that s thrive in ░░░░░░░░ are many and chief ░░░░░░░░ them is the very ░░░░░░░░ level of impunity reinforced ░░░░░░░░ the regulatory autonomy of ░░░░░░░░ organizations and bodies which ░░░░░░░░ prior ties reputation and ░░░░░░░░ over prevention and justice ░░░░░░░░ victims I realize that ░░░░░░░░ might be painting a ░░░░░░░░ bleak picture and certainly ░░░░░░░░ is not my intention ░░░░░░░░ fact that we are ░░░░░░░░ today at the United ░░░░░░░░ discussing this issue acknowledging ░░░░░░░░ short comings and injustices ░░░░░░░░ the discrimination that women ░░░░░░░░ girls in sports experience ░░░░░░░░ me hope It s ░░░░░░░░ testament to the importance ░░░░░░░░ these issues The fact ░░░░░░░░ they have made it ░░░░░░░░ the radar screen of ░░░░░░░░ international community And that ░░░░░░░░ not have been possible ░░░░░░░░ it were not for ░░░░░░░░ many female athletes that ░░░░░░░░ spared really no effort ░░░░░░░░ make their voices heard ░░░░░░░░ of them with us ░░░░░░░░ today Often at great ░░░░░░░░ cost and in the ░░░░░░░░ of even greater diversity ░░░░░░░░ hostility you see that ░░░░░░░░ doesn t like it ░░░░░░░░ women dare to speak ░░░░░░░░ patriarchy in the world ░░░░░░░░ sports is also no ░░░░░░░░ My report to the ░░░░░░░░ assembly and this event ░░░░░░░░ be seen as another ░░░░░░░░ in understanding the experiences ░░░░░░░░ women and girls in ░░░░░░░░ and I once again ░░░░░░░░ ░░░░░░░░ to protect women and ░░░░░░░░ against discrimination based on ░░░░░░░░ sex Similarly the mistreatment ░░░░░░░░ violence they face as ░░░░░░░░ must be treated also ░░░░░░░░ human rights violation so ░░░░░░░░ requires the recognition of ░░░░░░░░ responsibility of state and ░░░░░░░░ state actors when they ░░░░░░░░ perpetuate discrimination and violence ░░░░░░░░ when they fail to ░░░░░░░░ when it comes to ░░░░░░░░ attention all relevant actors ░░░░░░░░ they are sports by ░░░░░░░░ states Institutions must deal ░░░░░░░░ these issues with these ░░░░░░░░ as such and they ░░░░░░░░ ensure that they are ░░░░░░░░ resourced and equipped to ░░░░░░░░ with them We actually ░░░░░░░░ that s to our ░░░░░░░░ and girls in our ░░░░░░░░ Like many women here ░░░░░░░░ I have personally known ░░░░░░░░ immense benefits of sport ░░░░░░░░ my youth but also ░░░░░░░░ an adult not only ░░░░░░░░ matter if it s ░░░░░░░░ my physical and mental ░░░░░░░░ but also to my ░░░░░░░░ confidence and self esteem ░░░░░░░░ m very grateful to ░░░░░░░░ had access to opportunities ░░░░░░░░ practice This point I ░░░░░░░░ interested in even when ░░░░░░░░ sports challenge sex and ░░░░░░░░ stereotypes and the
