Springfield, Ohio Woman on City Being Overrun by Haitian Migrants: We’re Paying Our Taxes and They Are Getting Free Stuff

HAYES Good evening everybody ░░░░░░░░ name is Lisa Hayes ░░░░░░░░ I am a resident ░░░░░░░░ Springfield Ohio and I ░░░░░░░░ also a registered voter ░░░░░░░░ I m a mother ░░░░░░░░ m a grandmother and ░░░░░░░░ m a great grandmother ░░░░░░░░ have family here in ░░░░░░░░ town You know it ░░░░░░░░ the first time I ░░░░░░░░ ever spoke at the ░░░░░░░░ meeting and I m ░░░░░░░░ to try to make ░░░░░░░░ a good talk with ░░░░░░░░ OK I would like ░░░░░░░░ know how many of ░░░░░░░░ sitting up there tonight ░░░░░░░░ into the grocery stores ░░░░░░░░ in the city Walmart ░░░░░░░░ in the city to ░░░░░░░░ your shopping I m ░░░░░░░░ to tell you 64 ░░░░░░░░ old and I don ░░░░░░░░ know what kind of ░░░░░░░░ you can put on ░░░░░░░░ but I m taking ░░░░░░░░ cart down the grocery ░░░░░░░░ and I have three ░░░░░░░░ strapped across the aisle ░░░░░░░░ me coming would not ░░░░░░░░ wouldn t even and ░░░░░░░░ said excuse me maybe ░░░░░░░░ didn t understand what ░░░░░░░░ was saying but I ░░░░░░░░ sure they understood that ░░░░░░░░ was trying to get ░░░░░░░░ that aisle So I ░░░░░░░░ no recourse now but ░░░░░░░░ bust through it I ░░░░░░░░ not afraid to do ░░░░░░░░ You know I would ░░░░░░░░ to see them have ░░░░░░░░ common respect some common ░░░░░░░░ Do not try to ░░░░░░░░ your way through Springfield ░░░░░░░░ It s not going ░░░░░░░░ work out well I ░░░░░░░░ t believe it will ░░░░░░░░ out well at all ░░░░░░░░ have a 20 year ░░░░░░░░ granddaughter who works two ░░░░░░░░ pays city tax I ░░░░░░░░ a 23 year old ░░░░░░░░ who also pays city ░░░░░░░░ and federal and state ░░░░░░░░ all the other stuff ░░░░░░░░ works two jobs She ░░░░░░░░ pregnant It took us ░░░░░░░░ months to get Medicaid ░░░░░░░░ that young lady and ░░░░░░░░ couldn t have any ░░░░░░░░ her tests done I ░░░░░░░░ to come up with ░░░░░░░░ for her very first ░░░░░░░░ s appointment It was ░░░░░░░░ Then I m told ░░░░░░░░ when she does get ░░░░░░░░ Medicaid they ll back ░░░░░░░░ up Are they going ░░░░░░░░ give me my 150 ░░░░░░░░ I doubt it I ░░░░░░░░ it And I know ░░░░░░░░ s not your problem ░░░░░░░░ s a state problem ░░░░░░░░ I will address them ░░░░░░░░ already have The other ░░░░░░░░ is that I sat ░░░░░░░░ and I decided I ░░░░░░░░ going to start emailing ░░░░░░░░ of the higher ups ░░░░░░░░ the state I started ░░░░░░░░ them Within one day ░░░░░░░░ day they called me ░░░░░░░░ said that they didn ░░░░░░░░ have permission to talk ░░░░░░░░ me because she s ░░░░░░░░ I said that s ░░░░░░░░ She ll be home ░░░░░░░░ 2 That morning she ░░░░░░░░ an automated phone call ░░░░░░░░ she was covered by ░░░░░░░░ since August 15th All ░░░░░░░░ a sudden now she ░░░░░░░░ covered All of a ░░░░░░░░ now she can get ░░░░░░░░ help but we can ░░░░░░░░ get through the doors ░░░░░░░░ JFS to do anything ░░░░░░░░ can t get through ░░░░░░░░ The line is so ░░░░░░░░ and that s what ░░░░░░░░ have done here in ░░░░░░░░ city We have just ░░░░░░░░ too many daggone people ░░░░░░░░ come in here and ░░░░░░░░ able able to apply ░░░░░░░░ free stuff and here ░░░░░░░░ are working paying those ░░░░░░░░ every week for what ░░░░░░░░ So she can t ░░░░░░░░ any help so we ░░░░░░░░ t get through the ░░░░░░░░ of Social Security so ░░░░░░░░ can file for retirement ░░░░░░░░ know it s packed ░░░░░░░░ there all the time ░░░░░░░░ you.”
