giving the developments in ░░░░░░░░ last spring Columbia quickly ░░░░░░░░ the epicenter of the ░░░░░░░░ Palestinian campus protest movement ░░░░░░░░ at 1 point classes ░░░░░░░░ moved to remote learning ░░░░░░░░ of the demonstrations joining ░░░░░░░░ now is the leader ░░░░░░░░ the students supporting Israel ░░░░░░░░ good car Thank you ░░░░░░░░ being with so you ░░░░░░░░ back in class How ░░░░░░░░ you feel about being ░░░░░░░░ to school right now ░░░░░░░░ any concerns given the ░░░░░░░░ overnight in the Middle ░░░░░░░░ Thanks for having me ░░░░░░░░ my concerns are actually ░░░░░░░░ rooted as much in ░░░░░░░░ s unfolding right now ░░░░░░░░ Israel in the Middle ░░░░░░░░ But rather with Colombia ░░░░░░░░ unwillingness to outline their ░░░░░░░░ for the semester at ░░░░░░░░ end of the last ░░░░░░░░ We couldn t even ░░░░░░░░ to class Jewish students ░░░░░░░░ targeted and harassed by ░░░░░░░░ classmates and and and ░░░░░░░░ unaffiliated protesters as well ░░░░░░░░ nobody was able to ░░░░░░░░ to class These issues ░░░░░░░░ t just affecting Jewish ░░░░░░░░ Israeli students anymore There ░░░░░░░░ affecting everyone just this ░░░░░░░░ on my way home ░░░░░░░░ class I walk through ░░░░░░░░ was a pretty large ░░░░░░░░ in front of the ░░░░░░░░ entrance to campus and ░░░░░░░░ were nding out fliers ░░░░░░░░ said quote we will ░░░░░░░░ upon you from where ░░░░░░░░ least expect that s ░░░░░░░░ quote from the al ░░░░░░░░ brigade Excuse me And ░░░░░░░░ that s threat ning ░░░░░░░░ and threatening violence potentially ░░░░░░░░ don t know what ░░░░░░░░ I m very concerned ░░░░░░░░ this year will be ░░░░░░░░ better than the last ░░░░░░░░ potentially will be worse ░░░░░░░░ Jewish students And again ░░░░░░░░ everyone this summer even ░░░░░░░░ sheffey announced her resignation ░░░░░░░░ the president of the ░░░░░░░░ What if anything are ░░░░░░░░ hearing from leadership about ░░░░░░░░ you ve seen and ░░░░░░░░ far have experienced And ░░░░░░░░ s exactly the problem ░░░░░░░░ in light of Friday ░░░░░░░░ report from our anti ░░░░░░░░ task force We have ░░░░░░░░ no plans from our ░░░░░░░░ about how they re ░░░░░░░░ to address the situation ░░░░░░░░ I am trying to ░░░░░░░░ cautiously optimistic that they ░░░░░░░░ know have some sort ░░░░░░░░ plan and that there ░░░░░░░░ details that they just ░░░░░░░░ aren t revealing But ░░░░░░░░ have no reason really ░░░░░░░░ believe that things will ░░░░░░░░ better and that the ░░░░░░░░ will keep us safe ░░░░░░░░ they have security all ░░░░░░░░ campus students have to ░░░░░░░░ their id s to ░░░░░░░░ on to campus but ░░░░░░░░ addressing a symptom not ░░░░░░░░ root of the issue ░░░░░░░░ that s doing nothing ░░░░░░░░ curb Like I said ░░░░░░░░ intimidation harassment and even ░░░░░░░░ violence that is being ░░░░░░░░ and to students by ░░░░░░░░ free Palestine protesters and ░░░░░░░░ hesitate to even call ░░░░░░░░ pro Palestinian because frankly ░░░░░░░░ re not these protesters ░░░░░░░░ anti Israel anti Jewish ░░░░░░░░ anti American as well ░░░░░░░░ there is your group ░░░░░░░░ students supporting Israel doing ░░░░░░░░ are your next steps ░░░░░░░░ make sure that you ░░░░░░░░ a safe campus to ░░░░░░░░ We re continuing to ░░░░░░░░ about our experiences and ░░░░░░░░ speak about the truth ░░░░░░░░ know I would say ░░░░░░░░ confidence that our group ░░░░░░░░ pro Palestinian students for ░░░░░░░░ in Palestine or for ░░░░░░░░ know these groups that ░░░░░░░░ to be pro Palestinian ░░░░░░░░ are calling for violence ░░░░░░░░ continued war and intifada ░░░░░░░░ just want Israelis and ░░░░░░░░ to be able to ░░░░░░░░ in peace and in ░░░░░░░░ and to coexist But ░░░░░░░░ isn t the dialogue ░░░░░░░░ campus and we re ░░░░░░░░ working hard to change ░░░░░░░░ from a grassroots level ░░░░░░░░ again we need to ░░░░░░░░ with the administration to ░░░░░░░░ that they can do ░░░░░░░░ job and keep their ░░░░░░░░ safe and keep their ░░░░░░░░ running and that s ░░░░░░░░ they failed to do ░░░░░░░░ semester Take the inside ░░░░░░░░ mean its first day ░░░░░░░░ classes but what the ░░░░░░░░ are like inside your ░░░░░░░░ and among the staff ░░░░░░░░ of the professors is ░░░░░░░░ being discussed Once you ░░░░░░░░ closurdoor Sit down and ░░░░░░░░ the surroundings I mean ░░░░░░░░ s certainly a point ░░░░░░░░ tension Obviously there s ░░░░░░░░ lot of disagreement but ░░░░░░░░ would actually say that ░░░░░░░░ majority of of students ░░░░░░░░ I would hope and ░░░░░░░░ seems like faculty as ░░░░░░░░ Don t support this ░░░░░░░░ of disruption because everyone ░░░░░░░░ to go to class ░░░░░░░░ want to do what ░░░░░░░░ came to university to ░░░░░░░░ We want to learn ░░░░░░░░ want to be challenge ░░░░░░░░ want to have civil ░░░░░░░░ disagreements but that s ░░░░░░░░ what was happening last ░░░░░░░░ and that s all ░░░░░░░░ was happening outside and ░░░░░░░░ our campus today and ░░░░░░░░ I m hopeful that ░░░░░░░░ that are being affected ░░░░░░░░ this You know not ░░░░░░░░ tuition Israeli students and ░░░░░░░░ just tuition Israeli professors ░░░░░░░░ join us in speaking ░░░░░░░░ calling out you know ░░░░░░░░ harassment and disruptions of ░░░░░░░░ we can go back ░░░░░░░░ learning and to being ░░░░░░░░ community once again because ░░░░░░░░ is no community right ░░░░░░░░ Colombia university and looking ░░░░░░░░ a place you can ░░░░░░░░ and peacefully learn even ░░░░░░░░ you for your I ░░░░░░░░ the semester
