Democratic Donor: We Have to Nominate Somebody Who Can Do the Job

HILL Democratic Donor Marty ░░░░░░░░ joins me now So ░░░░░░░░ I ve spoken with ░░░░░░░░ number of donors this ░░░░░░░░ Whitney Tilson telling me ░░░░░░░░ two days ago he ░░░░░░░░ t spoken to a ░░░░░░░░ Democrat who thinks the ░░░░░░░░ should stay in the ░░░░░░░░ Where do you stand ░░░░░░░░ I think we have ░░░░░░░░ look at this not ░░░░░░░░ an interview on Friday ░░░░░░░░ and not as a ░░░░░░░░ election and not as ░░░░░░░░ him we re gonna ░░░░░░░░ up with Trump I ░░░░░░░░ our job as a ░░░░░░░░ is to nominate somebody ░░░░░░░░ can do the job ░░░░░░░░ what s going to ░░░░░░░░ 4 1 2 years ░░░░░░░░ have the midterm elections ░░░░░░░░ there in 2026 The ░░░░░░░░ who s elected in ░░░░░░░░ will be president until ░░░░░░░░ of 2029 And so ░░░░░░░░ think if you put ░░░░░░░░ else aside the simple ░░░░░░░░ that the Democratic leadership ░░░░░░░░ to ask is are ░░░░░░░░ nominating somebody that has ░░░░░░░░ confidence of the party ░░░░░░░░ the country to do ░░░░░░░░ job for another 4 ░░░░░░░░ 2 years And I ░░░░░░░░ when you ask the ░░░░░░░░ that way it sort ░░░░░░░░ leads you to the ░░░░░░░░ HILL And that answer ░░░░░░░░ you is DOLAN I ░░░░░░░░ t believe Biden has ░░░░░░░░ confidence of the party ░░░░░░░░ the country that he ░░░░░░░░ leave that he can ░░░░░░░░ the country for another ░░░░░░░░ 1 2 years I ░░░░░░░░ it s wrong to ░░░░░░░░ on the idea of ░░░░░░░░ through ░░░░░░░░ in a world where ░░░░░░░░ are some very complex ░░░░░░░░ right now and the ░░░░░░░░ is are we going ░░░░░░░░ nominate somebody who s ░░░░░░░░ to go for the ░░░░░░░░ 4 1 2 years ░░░░░░░░ not HILL You bring ░░░░░░░░ an interesting point Congressman ░░░░░░░░ Huffman was on CNN ░░░░░░░░ and I m paraphrasing ░░░░░░░░ he said here but ░░░░░░░░ essentially said it s ░░░░░░░░ for Democrats in his ░░░░░░░░ to step back and ░░░░░░░░ more of a 30 ░░░░░░░░ foot view here and ░░░░░░░░ this can t be ░░░░░░░░ sentimentality it cannot be ░░░░░░░░ loyalty to a person ░░░░░░░░ it can t be ░░░░░░░░ a single person that ░░░░░░░░ has to be the ░░░░░░░░ picture and the bigger ░░░░░░░░ of the party Do ░░░░░░░░ think the campaign gets ░░░░░░░░ DOLAN I don t ░░░░░░░░ I m not close ░░░░░░░░ to the campaign you ░░░░░░░░ I ll start by ░░░░░░░░ Biden is a national ░░░░░░░░ I mean he s ░░░░░░░░ a senator for 36 ░░░░░░░░ vice president for eight ░░░░░░░░ president for four years ░░░░░░░░ doesn t need to ░░░░░░░░ briefed on anything I ░░░░░░░░ he he really knows ░░░░░░░░ there is to know ░░░░░░░░ s I agree with ░░░░░░░░ you just said though ░░░░░░░░ is if you step ░░░░░░░░ we re in a ░░░░░░░░ complex time We have ░░░░░░░░ war in Ukraine We ░░░░░░░░ the war in Israel ░░░░░░░░ have relations with China ░░░░░░░░ are which are getting ░░░░░░░░ and more complex You ░░░░░░░░ 60 000 nuclear weapons ░░░░░░░░ the world and you ░░░░░░░░ extremism in the United ░░░░░░░░ This is a 24 ░░░░░░░░ a day job and ░░░░░░░░ goes on for four ░░░░░░░░ a half years It ░░░░░░░░ not just a question ░░░░░░░░ getting through November because ░░░░░░░░ this you know anti ░░░░░░░░ sentiment in the Democratic ░░░░░░░░ So I think that ░░░░░░░░ the standard I think ░░░░░░░░ have to look at ░░░░░░░░ can do the job ░░░░░░░░ 4 1 2 years ░░░░░░░░ by the way the ░░░░░░░░ Party is full of ░░░░░░░░ people HILL This increasingly ░░░░░░░░ pressure from donors right ░░░░░░░░ I mentioned Abigail Disney ░░░░░░░░ The New York Times ░░░░░░░░ morning Reid Hoffman Damon ░░░░░░░░ pushing what he was ░░░░░░░░ a Dem bargo telling ░░░░░░░░ we ll just to ░░░░░░░░ giving money The New ░░░░░░░░ Times is also reporting ░░░░░░░░ morning there s a ░░░░░░░░ of donors who are ░░░░░░░░ to raise as much ░░░░░░░░ 100 million essentially create ░░░░░░░░ PAC put that in ░░░░░░░░ and then if Joe ░░░░░░░░ does not step aside ░░░░░░░░ will funnel that money ░░░░░░░░ the down ballot races ░░░░░░░░ the money starting to ░░░░░░░░ to the campaign DOLAN ░░░░░░░░ know I don t ░░░░░░░░ think voters all over ░░░░░░░░ United States can see ░░░░░░░░ I have a lot ░░░░░░░░ faith in the voters ░░░░░░░░ think it ll take ░░░░░░░░ about a minute to ░░░░░░░░ to terms of what ░░░░░░░░ happened here because this ░░░░░░░░ what happens in everybody ░░░░░░░░ lives They they move ░░░░░░░░ a new city or ░░░░░░░░ get a new job ░░░░░░░░ somebody in their family ░░░░░░░░ sick and people get ░░░░░░░░ You have to deal ░░░░░░░░ reality And I think ░░░░░░░░ re in a new ░░░░░░░░ for the voters now ░░░░░░░░ where we were six ░░░░░░░░ ago I think there ░░░░░░░░ enough money to go ░░░░░░░░ to support Biden or ░░░░░░░░ support another candidate I ░░░░░░░░ the question really is ░░░░░░░░ the party lost faith ░░░░░░░░ he can be the ░░░░░░░░ for the next 4 ░░░░░░░░ 2 years I think ░░░░░░░░ s up to Joe ░░░░░░░░ make the decision I ░░░░░░░░ confident he ll make ░░░░░░░░ right decision HILL Which ░░░░░░░░ what we ultimately keep ░░░░░░░░ and which is true ░░░░░░░░ He needs to make ░░░░░░░░ decision if in fact ░░░░░░░░
