RUSH TRANSCRIPT A few ░░░░░░░░ before top of the ░░░░░░░░ Our next guest questions ░░░░░░░░ current state of the ░░░░░░░░ movement and whether it ░░░░░░░░ actually helping people In ░░░░░░░░ new book titled morning ░░░░░░░░ the revolution Nelly calls ░░░░░░░░ major progressive actions over ░░░░░░░░ past few years and ░░░░░░░░ why she a Hillary ░░░░░░░░ voter who lived in ░░░░░░░░ San Francisco decided the ░░░░░░░░ was too much and ░░░░░░░░ joins us now She ░░░░░░░░ a reporter and head ░░░░░░░░ strategy at the free ░░░░░░░░ Also with us the ░░░░░░░░ of the national action ░░░░░░░░ reverend Al Sharpton is ░░░░░░░░ with us this morning ░░░░░░░░ welcome Congratulations on the ░░░░░░░░ Liberals this is something ░░░░░░░░ took a while for ░░░░░░░░ lot of people to ░░░░░░░░ out the disconnect right ░░░░░░░░ disconnect let s just ░░░░░░░░ it really extreme white ░░░░░░░░ and black Americans Hispanic ░░░░░░░░ and you see it ░░░░░░░░ polling one poll after ░░░░░░░░ Polls because that s ░░░░░░░░ reality what she s ░░░░░░░░ about is real Those ░░░░░░░░ are committed toward real ░░░░░░░░ change moving the country ░░░░░░░░ and those who come ░░░░░░░░ that are removed from ░░░░░░░░ reality that we re ░░░░░░░░ and just exploit it ░░░░░░░░ they want a charge ░░░░░░░░ latte liberals who sit ░░░░░░░░ all day and philosophyize ░░░░░░░░ than deal with people ░░░░░░░░ lives You get though ░░░░░░░░ liberals oh we don ░░░░░░░░ need the old guard ░░░░░░░░ two months later the ░░░░░░░░ never hear from them ░░░░░░░░ the community never hear ░░░░░░░░ them again and all ░░░░░░░░ have left is the ░░░░░░░░ they were told to ░░░░░░░░ away and they exploited ░░░░░░░░ they don t believe ░░░░░░░░ anything long range Beautiful ░░░░░░░░ that didn t want ░░░░░░░░ engage with the tangible ░░░░░░░░ work with doing kind ░░░░░░░░ anti racism and progress ░░░░░░░░ invols comepromise and getting ░░░░░░░░ don And the movement ░░░░░░░░ said that anti racism ░░░░░░░░ progress can be an ░░░░░░░░ process that we actually ░░░░░░░░ of trying to make ░░░░░░░░ and make things better ░░░░░░░░ black Americans we can ░░░░░░░░ on our internal whiteness ░░░░░░░░ our internal there s ░░░░░░░░ list that came out ░░░░░░░░ the book the characteristics ░░░░░░░░ white supremacy and these ░░░░░░░░ include perfectionism a sense ░░░░░░░░ urgency individualism a crazy ░░░░░░░░ They get you coming ░░░░░░░░ going if you say ░░░░░░░░ re racist you re ░░░░░░░░ and if you don ░░░░░░░░ say you re racist ░░░░░░░░ re fragile To follow ░░░░░░░░ what rev said what ░░░░░░░░ they talking about we ░░░░░░░░ back to 2020 right ░░░░░░░░ there were all the ░░░░░░░░ mainly from white people ░░░░░░░░ defunding the police New ░░░░░░░░ Times and the rev ░░░░░░░░ it on on the ░░░░░░░░ actually b representatives and ░░░░░░░░ Bronx in brooklyn said ░░░░░░░░ no don t defund ░░░░░░░░ police We need more ░░░░░░░░ our children as they ░░░░░░░░ from home to school ░░░░░░░░ need more guarding our ░░░░░░░░ you people in park ░░░░░░░░ and you people in ░░░░░░░░ heights fine but we ░░░░░░░░ need help I think ░░░░░░░░ had a media movement ░░░░░░░░ said basically let s ░░░░░░░░ cover this complexity let ░░░░░░░░ not cover the reality ░░░░░░░░ the ground Let s ░░░░░░░░ look at the rhetoric ░░░░░░░░ s just look at ░░░░░░░░ language and the beauty ░░░░░░░░ the movement and the ░░░░░░░░ But the reality on ░░░░░░░░ ground which I tried ░░░░░░░░ do in the book ░░░░░░░░ to different scenes and ░░░░░░░░ to different places and ░░░░░░░░ to people The reality ░░░░░░░░ the ground is more ░░░░░░░░ Lot of the protests ░░░░░░░░ 2020 the neighborhoods that ░░░░░░░░ burned out those were ░░░░░░░░ minority neighborhoods These were ░░░░░░░░ the rich white business ░░░░░░░░ Of the reasons that ░░░░░░░░ talked about that with ░░░░░░░░ is that in the ░░░░░░░░ and 90s we were ░░░░░░░░ to get more blacks ░░░░░░░░ the police department to ░░░░░░░░ how policing was done ░░░░░░░░ was a cop named ░░░░░░░░ Adams who s now ░░░░░░░░ mayor It s an ░░░░░░░░ for people who are ░░░░░░░░ from the ground It ░░░░░░░░ revolution Killed two days ░░░░░░░░ riots Four days later ░░░░░░░░ we re fighting to ░░░░░░░░ the special prosecutor got ░░░░░░░░ case to the attorney ░░░░░░░░ what happened to those ░░░░░░░░ who turned down target ░░░░░░░░ family of George Floyd ░░░░░░░░ t heard from him ░░░░░░░░ then because this idea ░░░░░░░░ idealism doesn t make ░░░░░░░░ change Branch out to ░░░░░░░░ issues where you think ░░░░░░░░ progressive movement has maybe ░░░░░░░░ short or not actually ░░░░░░░░ people About when we ░░░░░░░░ about homelessness and the ░░░░░░░░ situation I m from ░░░░░░░░ Francisco I have a ░░░░░░░░ in the book and ░░░░░░░░ about San Francisco anyone ░░░░░░░░ s honest with them ░░░░░░░░ walking around the city ░░░░░░░░ the reality on the ░░░░░░░░ is very different from ░░░░░░░░ we re being told ░░░░░░░░ reality is people are ░░░░░░░░ on the streets from ░░░░░░░░ overdoses We re being ░░░░░░░░ that it s the ░░░░░░░░ response to walk past ░░░░░░░░ who s overdosing fentanyl ░░░░░░░░ the sidewalk and to ░░░░░░░░ the government s taking ░░░░░░░░ of them in some ░░░░░░░░ Oregon Sword soared they ░░░░░░░░ to completely walk it ░░░░░░░░ because it was an ░░░░░░░░ failure that caused more ░░░░░░░░ Transformation realization that I ░░░░░░░░ wrong about some things ░░░░░░░░ superwrong just a little ░░░░░░░░ but like I used ░░░░░░░░ be for drug legalization ░░░░░░░░ if your open your ░░░░░░░░ you have to be ░░░░░░░░ with yourself and I ░░░░░░░░ that s what a ░░░░░░░░ of the progressive movement ░░░░░░░░ t done and that ░░░░░░░░ ss ripe for reporting ░░░░░░░░ re refusing to see ░░░░░░░░ If you look another ░░░░░░░░ you see the absurdity ░░░░░░░░ elements of progressivism are ░░░░░░░░ too much attention amplified ░░░░░░░░ much that TikTok feeds ░░░░░░░░ a narrative about Israel ░░░░░░░░ of those students were ░░░░░░░░ on good faith We ░░░░░░░░ later what most people ░░░░░░░░ There were professionals behind ░░░░░░░░ lot of it do ░░░░░░░░ think that we talk ░░░░░░░░ much in the media ░░░░░░░░ other places about the ░░░░░░░░ extreme elements in Sides ░░░░░░░░ when it comes to ░░░░░░░░ the progressive movement yes ░░░░░░░░ much the average American ░░░░░░░░ really normal political is ░░░░░░░░ politically even a complicated ░░░░░░░░ mess the reason the ░░░░░░░░ movement has such a ░░░░░░░░ place in our conversation ░░░░░░░░ because a lot of ░░░░░░░░ American media in the ░░░░░░░░ is super progressive and ░░░░░░░░ into a lot of ░░░░░░░░ ideas and philosophies so ░░░░░░░░ became the operating system ░░░░░░░░ a lot of our ░░░░░░░░ media companies Well taken ░░░░░░░░ I consider myself progressive ░░░░░░░░ lot of people are ░░░░░░░░ but not extreme Just ░░░░░░░░ you have people on ░░░░░░░░ right who aren t ░░░░░░░░ and I know people ░░░░░░░░ are very conservative who ░░░░░░░░ very supportive of the ░░░░░░░░ movement but they wouldn ░░░░░░░░ go down and join ░░░░░░░░ trumpettes in the chorus ░░░░░░░░ I think that s ░░░░░░░░ we got to recapture ░░░░░░░░ s progressive and the ░░░░░░░░ definition is progressives should ░░░░░░░░ people who are getting ░░░░░░░░ progress not just making ░░░░░░░░ The new book is ░░░░░░░░ after the revolution Nellie ░░░░░░░░ thank you very much ░░░░░░░░ on the book.
