McCabe: You Have the Possibility that Russians Will Interfere in the U.S. Elections to Help Republicans Opposing Aid to Ukraine

BERMAN New this morning ░░░░░░░░ FBI says it it ░░░░░░░░ monitoring whether U S ░░░░░░░░ for Ukraine would lead ░░░░░░░░ to take more risks ░░░░░░░░ potentially interfering in the ░░░░░░░░ presidential election As senior ░░░░░░░░ official told reporters they ░░░░░░░░ concerned that the Biden ░░░░░░░░ support of Kyiv might ░░░░░░░░ animating for the Russians ░░░░░░░░ senior law enforcement analyst ░░░░░░░░ McCabe is with us ░░░░░░░░ Do the Russians need ░░░░░░░░ excuse Andy to meddle ░░░░░░░░ the elections in the ░░░░░░░░ S McCabe Well no ░░░░░░░░ don t John And ░░░░░░░░ know this from a ░░░░░░░░ history of Russian meddling ░░░░░░░░ U S elections most ░░░░░░░░ and in 2016 And ░░░░░░░░ have to remember that ░░░░░░░░ activity is motivated by ░░░░░░░░ s main goal vis ░░░░░░░░ vis the United States ░░░░░░░░ the time which is ░░░░░░░░ undermine democracy to undermine ░░░░░░░░ S faith in our ░░░░░░░░ elections And so that ░░░░░░░░ perennial it happens all ░░░░░░░░ time The issue now ░░░░░░░░ whether or not our ░░░░░░░░ for Ukraine their military ░░░░░░░░ provides additional motivation for ░░░░░░░░ Russians to really step ░░░░░░░░ our elections in a ░░░░░░░░ way BERMAN Any sense ░░░░░░░░ they would interfere in ░░░░░░░░ elections McCabe Well it ░░░░░░░░ a great question and ░░░░░░░░ would suspect that intelligence ░░░░░░░░ law enforcement officials aren ░░░░░░░░ perfectly clear on that ░░░░░░░░ I think the added ░░░░░░░░ to Russians to intervene ░░░░░░░░ likely supercharged in this ░░░░░░░░ because of the way ░░░░░░░░ politics in the United ░░░░░░░░ play out around support ░░░░░░░░ Ukraine So you have ░░░░░░░░ side the Republicans many ░░░░░░░░ whom are opposed to ░░░░░░░░ U S military support ░░░░░░░░ financial support to Ukraine ░░░░░░░░ the Democrats who are ░░░░░░░░ supportive of it So ░░░░░░░░ those battle lines you ░░░░░░░░ the possibility of the ░░░░░░░░ being incentivized to actually ░░░░░░░░ in a way that ░░░░░░░░ help Republicans who would ░░░░░░░░ adverse to additional Ukraine ░░░░░░░░ if elected and to ░░░░░░░░ the prospects of Democrats ░░░░░░░░ the general motivations are ░░░░░░░░ there but in this ░░░░░░░░ but we think it ░░░░░░░░ probably even more important ░░░░░░░░ them.”
