Doctor Who Walked out of Biden Meeting with Muslim Leaders: ‘There Is So Much Wrong in Gaza’

COLLINS We re thinking ░░░░░░░░ all their families tonight ░░░░░░░░ the middle of all ░░░░░░░░ this President Biden at ░░░░░░░░ White House is continuing ░░░░░░░░ face anger and frustration ░░░░░░░░ person of his handling ░░░░░░░░ the Israel Hamas war ░░░░░░░░ had planned a iftar ░░░░░░░░ at the White House ░░░░░░░░ an event to break ░░░░░░░░ daily fast with Muslim ░░░░░░░░ during Ramadan but sources ░░░░░░░░ CNN so many of ░░░░░░░░ declined the invitation uncomfortable ░░░░░░░░ the idea of having ░░░░░░░░ celebratory meal as people ░░░░░░░░ Gaza are starving That ░░░░░░░░ the White House scales ░░░░░░░░ back to just be ░░░░░░░░ policy meeting but even ░░░░░░░░ did not go as ░░░░░░░░ for the White House ░░░░░░░░ Palestinian American who is ░░░░░░░░ emergency medicine physician and ░░░░░░░░ in Gaza earlier this ░░░░░░░░ walked out of that ░░░░░░░░ That doctor Dr Thaer ░░░░░░░░ joins me now And ░░░░░░░░ Ahmad it s great ░░░░░░░░ have you here Can ░░░░░░░░ just start by telling ░░░░░░░░ what happened when you ░░░░░░░░ to the White House ░░░░░░░░ What was said inside ░░░░░░░░ room AHMAD Yeah thank ░░░░░░░░ for having me I ░░░░░░░░ we had shown up ░░░░░░░░ this meeting really concerned ░░░░░░░░ what was taking place ░░░░░░░░ the Gaza Strip and ░░░░░░░░ m glad that you ░░░░░░░░ that we were insisting ░░░░░░░░ there not be any ░░░░░░░░ there it made no ░░░░░░░░ for us to sort ░░░░░░░░ break bread while talking ░░░░░░░░ a famine taking place ░░░░░░░░ had shown up and ░░░░░░░░ president and the vice ░░░░░░░░ and the national security ░░░░░░░░ in the room and ░░░░░░░░ was very brief comments ░░░░░░░░ the president saying he ░░░░░░░░ to hear from us ░░░░░░░░ he wants to listen ░░░░░░░░ us And so I ░░░░░░░░ first and I let ░░░░░░░░ know that I am ░░░░░░░░ a community that s ░░░░░░░░ We are grieving We ░░░░░░░░ heart is broken for ░░░░░░░░ s been taking place ░░░░░░░░ the last six months ░░░░░░░░ the rhetoric that has ░░░░░░░░ coming out of the ░░░░░░░░ Administration that s been ░░░░░░░░ out of the White ░░░░░░░░ it s frustrated a ░░░░░░░░ of people especially people ░░░░░░░░ are Palestinian Americans Muslim ░░░░░░░░ Arab Americans We are ░░░░░░░░ satisfied with what has ░░░░░░░░ place There has been ░░░░░░░░ concrete steps But keep ░░░░░░░░ mind we re very ░░░░░░░░ about the people that ░░░░░░░░ over in the Gaza ░░░░░░░░ that are in Palestine ░░░░░░░░ now who are not ░░░░░░░░ starving but are facing ░░░░░░░░ threat of a looming ░░░░░░░░ invasion And so I ░░░░░░░░ able to share that ░░░░░░░░ the president and let ░░░░░░░░ know that out of ░░░░░░░░ for my community out ░░░░░░░░ respect for all of ░░░░░░░░ people who have suffered ░░░░░░░░ who have been killed ░░░░░░░░ the process I need ░░░░░░░░ walk out of the ░░░░░░░░ and I want to ░░░░░░░░ out with decision makers ░░░░░░░░ let them know what ░░░░░░░░ feels like for somebody ░░░░░░░░ say something and then ░░░░░░░░ away from them and ░░░░░░░░ hear them out and ░░░░░░░░ hear their response COLLINS ░░░░░░░░ I mean what did ░░░░░░░░ did President Biden respond ░░░░░░░░ that AHMAD You know ░░░░░░░░ wasn t a lot ░░░░░░░░ response He actually said ░░░░░░░░ he understood and I ░░░░░░░░ away And I think ░░░░░░░░ me just like many ░░░░░░░░ the other Palestinian Americans ░░░░░░░░ Palestinians or as I ░░░░░░░░ many of the people ░░░░░░░░ are interested in what ░░░░░░░░ going on we re ░░░░░░░░ I mean we re ░░░░░░░░ about 1 7 million ░░░░░░░░ are in Rafah right ░░░░░░░░ and we heard that ░░░░░░░░ was a U N ░░░░░░░░ resolution that had passed ░░░░░░░░ the U S abstained ░░░░░░░░ we were thrilled about ░░░░░░░░ but only moments later ░░░░░░░░ have that sort of ░░░░░░░░ ripped from us when ░░░░░░░░ own White House is ░░░░░░░░ Oh it s a ░░░░░░░░ binding resolution They re ░░░░░░░░ the very U N ░░░░░░░░ Council resolution that s ░░░░░░░░ for a ceasefire Okay ░░░░░░░░ then let s think ░░░░░░░░ what happens next Oh ░░░░░░░░ we hear that there ░░░░░░░░ an arms transfer that ░░░░░░░░ going to take place ░░░░░░░░ we know that included ░░░░░░░░ these arms transfers are ░░░░░░░░ 2000 pound bombs that ░░░░░░░░ leveling neighborhoods I mean ░░░░░░░░ was in Gaza in ░░░░░░░░ I saw the devastation ░░░░░░░░ Khan Yunis I saw ░░░░░░░░ el Balah I mean ░░░░░░░░ bombs are wreaking havoc ░░░░░░░░ people are fleeing to ░░░░░░░░ south to Rafah the ░░░░░░░░ edge of Gaza bordering ░░░░░░░░ against Egypt and we ░░░░░░░░ transferring more bombs more ░░░░░░░░ more fighter jets What ░░░░░░░░ going to happen to ░░░░░░░░ people in Rafah I ░░░░░░░░ I m telling you ░░░░░░░░ every single humanitarian aid ░░░░░░░░ every single person invested ░░░░░░░░ what s taking place ░░░░░░░░ watching we are trying ░░░░░░░░ scream at the top ░░░░░░░░ our lungs Please we ░░░░░░░░ allow a ground invasion ░░░░░░░░ take place We need ░░░░░░░░ to be able to ░░░░░░░░ and it to be ░░░░░░░░ safely And I m ░░░░░░░░ you mentioned the tragic ░░░░░░░░ of the World Central ░░░░░░░░ workers who were a ░░░░░░░░ of an approved route ░░░░░░░░ mean these are people ░░░░░░░░ are coordinating and just ░░░░░░░░ to deliver food to ░░░░░░░░ people and they are ░░░░░░░░ in the process And ░░░░░░░░ there s so much ░░░░░░░░ in Gaza COLLINS And ░░░░░░░░ sounds like you don ░░░░░░░░ think that the White ░░░░░░░░ is hearing you Were ░░░░░░░░ the only Palestinian in ░░░░░░░░ room tonight AHMAD Yeah ░░░░░░░░ was the only Palestinian ░░░░░░░░ in that room I ░░░░░░░░ that there were plenty ░░░░░░░░ people who probably declined ░░░░░░░░ I know that there ░░░░░░░░ many people who I ░░░░░░░░ mentioned who should be ░░░░░░░░ there who for whatever ░░░░░░░░ weren t given the ░░░░░░░░ And you know it ░░░░░░░░ important to mention I ░░░░░░░░ a humanitarian physician I ░░░░░░░░ to the Gaza Strip ░░░░░░░░ am a Palestinian American ░░░░░░░░ I m not an ░░░░░░░░ I m not a ░░░░░░░░ of any local community ░░░░░░░░ I m not a ░░░░░░░░ of any organization that ░░░░░░░░ m the president of ░░░░░░░░ so even me being ░░░░░░░░ to be invited to ░░░░░░░░ place it s not ░░░░░░░░ representative of the diverse ░░░░░░░░ that makes up the ░░░░░░░░ diaspora It s not ░░░░░░░░ of them.”
