KERNEN We had Maya ░░░░░░░░ on earlier And we ░░░░░░░░ talking about some of ░░░░░░░░ long term issues that ░░░░░░░░ have in terms of ░░░░░░░░ and revenue and everything ░░░░░░░░ And she she said ░░░░░░░░ don t have one ░░░░░░░░ thing to tell you ░░░░░░░░ about this report We ░░░░░░░░ it the highlights but ░░░░░░░░ re really the lowlights ░░░░░░░░ do you have an ░░░░░░░░ for what we need ░░░░░░░░ do You candidate for ░░░░░░░░ Trump won t touch ░░░░░░░░ Security or Medicare even ░░░░░░░░ he didn t even ░░░░░░░░ that but when someone ░░░░░░░░ it Biden immediately came ░░░░░░░░ with an ad that ░░░░░░░░ I m going to ░░░░░░░░ it So neither candidate ░░░░░░░░ has is going to ░░░░░░░░ that third rail should ░░░░░░░░ Johnson No we shouldn ░░░░░░░░ And here s the ░░░░░░░░ that we ll do ░░░░░░░░ There s two completely ░░░░░░░░ world views on this ░░░░░░░░ know the Biden budget ░░░░░░░░ out it would make ░░░░░░░░ largest tax increases in ░░░░░░░░ U S history about ░░░░░░░░ 9 trillion in tax ░░░░░░░░ it would raise the ░░░░░░░░ debt to about 52 ░░░░░░░░ over the next 10 ░░░░░░░░ We can t go ░░░░░░░░ that road we re ░░░░░░░░ to crash the U ░░░░░░░░ economy We all recognize ░░░░░░░░ So what we present ░░░░░░░░ the alternative view And ░░░░░░░░ is our House Budget ░░░░░░░░ passed their resolution here ░░░░░░░░ the last couple of ░░░░░░░░ and it would balance ░░░░░░░░ federal budget in 10 ░░░░░░░░ and cut 15 trillion ░░░░░░░░ spending while not affecting ░░░░░░░░ Security or Medicare This ░░░░░░░░ possible to do but ░░░░░░░░ takes very tough political ░░░░░░░░ and you got to ░░░░░░░░ got to limit the ░░░░░░░░ and scope of the ░░░░░░░░ government What a concept ░░░░░░░░ ve been talking about ░░░░░░░░ for a long time ░░░░░░░░ is a path to ░░░░░░░░ it but it takes ░░░░░░░░ political choices It takes ░░░░░░░░ courage And I think ░░░░░░░░ ll see that in ░░░░░░░░ days ahead Because again ░░░░░░░░ believe the stakes are ░░░░░░░░ high and we have ░░░░░░░░ save this economy And ░░░░░░░░ think we can but ░░░░░░░░ has to be the ░░░░░░░░ policy choices QUICK There ░░░░░░░░ have been calls bipartisan ░░░░░░░░ actually to bring together ░░░░░░░░ commission to address this ░░░░░░░░ like Simpson Bowles but ░░░░░░░░ that has teeth would ░░░░░░░░ required to follow the ░░░░░░░░ of that committee Would ░░░░░░░░ support that Mr Speaker ░░░░░░░░ I have been supportive ░░░░░░░░ that We ve been ░░░░░░░░ about it it would ░░░░░░░░ a bipartisan bicameral commission ░░░░░░░░ the the catch is ░░░░░░░░ want to make sure ░░░░░░░░ they don t go ░░░░░░░░ with the idea that ░░░░░░░░ would be raising taxes ░░░░░░░░ I think raising taxes ░░░░░░░░ is problematic in a ░░░░░░░░ like this I think ░░░░░░░░ believe I m a ░░░░░░░░ government fiscal conservative I ░░░░░░░░ in the principle of ░░░░░░░░ taxes on job creators ░░░░░░░░ innovators and and risk ░░░░░░░░ and and hardworking families ░░░░░░░░ reducing regulation so you ░░░░░░░░ unleash the economy And ░░░░░░░░ is not just a ░░░░░░░░ you know we proved ░░░░░░░░ in the first two ░░░░░░░░ of Trump Administration crosstalk ░░░░░░░░ But but Mr Speaker ░░░░░░░░ we just back up ░░░░░░░░ a second Johnson Yeah ░░░░░░░░ I mean if Johnson ░░░░░░░░ QUICK can we just ░░░░░░░░ up If you are ░░░░░░░░ into that saying I ░░░░░░░░ a committee but one ░░░░░░░░ only sees things my ░░░░░░░░ and is willing to ░░░░░░░░ expenses but not do ░░░░░░░░ else you re going ░░░░░░░░ lose the bipartisan part ░░░░░░░░ that Simpson Bowles was ░░░░░░░░ on the idea that ░░░░░░░░ would have to raise ░░░░░░░░ in some arenas but ░░░░░░░░ cut revenue And that ░░░░░░░░ how it was bipartisan ░░░░░░░░ you d be able ░░░░░░░░ get along with it ░░░░░░░░ you see something like ░░░░░░░░ Bowles but that again ░░░░░░░░ had teeth that would ░░░░░░░░ required to follow the ░░░░░░░░ of that panel Johnson ░░░░░░░░ think there s a ░░░░░░░░ discussion that needs to ░░░░░░░░ had here and everything ░░░░░░░░ But at the end ░░░░░░░░ the day I believe ░░░░░░░░ our principles are the ░░░░░░░░ that need to be ░░░░░░░░ And what we did ░░░░░░░░ the Trump Administration is ░░░░░░░░ exactly that the first ░░░░░░░░ years You know by ░░░░░░░░ end of before Covid ░░░░░░░░ at the beginning of ░░░░░░░░ we had the greatest ░░░░░░░░ in the history of ░░░░░░░░ world not just the ░░░░░░░░ S and the reason ░░░░░░░░ because we actually implemented ░░░░░░░░ policies tax cuts and ░░░░░░░░ Act the regulatory reforms ░░░░░░░░ transformative for the economy ░░░░░░░░ we were onshoring again ░░░░░░░░ here People were out ░░░░░░░░ businesses adding jobs and ░░░░░░░░ had an increase in ░░░░░░░░ demographic in the country ░░░░░░░░ boats were rising at ░░░░░░░░ same time And then ░░░░░░░░ Biden comes in and ░░░░░░░░ post Covid does exactly ░░░░░░░░ opposite And that s ░░░░░░░░ we re in the ░░░░░░░░ we re in right ░░░░░░░░ These are policy choices ░░░░░░░░ put us here and ░░░░░░░░ policy choices that can ░░░░░░░░ us back And I ░░░░░░░░ forward to that I ░░░░░░░░ t think November can ░░░░░░░░ here soon enough We ░░░░░░░░ the next Congress in ░░░░░░░░ and I think you ░░░░░░░░ have unified government with ░░░░░░░░ in the White House ░░░░░░░░ Senate and the House ░░░░░░░░ believe in these principles ░░░░░░░░ we advanced those I ░░░░░░░░ we can turn this ░░░░░░░░ around I really really ░░░░░░░░
