SOLOMON Joining us now ░░░░░░░░ discuss is former Trump ░░░░░░░░ House lawyer Jim Schultz ░░░░░░░░ happy new year thanks ░░░░░░░░ being with us today ░░░░░░░░ Happy new year SOLOMON ░░░░░░░░ new year Let s ░░░░░░░░ you re part of ░░░░░░░░ Trump you re part ░░░░░░░░ his defense team Make ░░░░░░░░ case for us what ░░░░░░░░ you saying in these ░░░░░░░░ as you try to ░░░░░░░░ a legal case SCHULTZ ░░░░░░░░ look everyone keeps talking ░░░░░░░░ the political ramifications of ░░░░░░░░ and not the legal ░░░░░░░░ So the cases this ░░░░░░░░ going to go ultimately ░░░░░░░░ before the United States ░░░░░░░░ Court It s going ░░░░░░░░ make its way through ░░░░░░░░ supreme courts in Colorado ░░░░░░░░ Maine the Maine Supreme ░░░░░░░░ is going to hear ░░░░░░░░ as well I think ░░░░░░░░ s interesting to note ░░░░░░░░ least in the Maine ░░░░░░░░ that the secretary of ░░░░░░░░ one is not a ░░░░░░░░ two does have the ░░░░░░░░ to make these determinations ░░░░░░░░ they have to make ░░░░░░░░ those determinations in accordance ░░░░░░░░ federal law So the ░░░░░░░░ the secretary of state ░░░░░░░░ Maine is appointed by ░░░░░░░░ legislative elected by the ░░░░░░░░ body not by the ░░░░░░░░ of Maine by the ░░░░░░░░ body meaning the legislative ░░░░░░░░ that is majority democratic ░░░░░░░░ decision was made she ░░░░░░░░ the authority to make ░░░░░░░░ decision now it moves ░░░░░░░░ to the Maine Supreme ░░░░░░░░ where the Maine Supreme ░░░░░░░░ will interpret the federal ░░░░░░░░ and that will then ░░░░░░░░ its way to the ░░░░░░░░ States Supreme Court At ░░░░░░░░ time the teams will ░░░░░░░░ the arguments at that ░░░░░░░░ that the 14th Amendment ░░░░░░░░ not apply to the ░░░░░░░░ of the United States ░░░░░░░░ there are a number ░░░░░░░░ specific officials that are ░░░░░░░░ in that section one ░░░░░░░░ them does not include ░░░░░░░░ president of the United ░░░░░░░░ I think that s ░░░░░░░░ to be the basis ░░░░░░░░ which they make this ░░░░░░░░ and I do believe ░░░░░░░░ the United States Supreme ░░░░░░░░ is going to agree ░░░░░░░░ the Trump team on ░░░░░░░░ one at least.”
