RUSH TRANSCRIPT The UAW ░░░░░░░░ asked yes Jake Go ░░░░░░░░ I just interviewed shawn ░░░░░░░░ head of the UAW ░░░░░░░░ other day and I ░░░░░░░░ to pass on a ░░░░░░░░ based on something he ░░░░░░░░ told me the other ░░░░░░░░ which is over the ░░░░░░░░ four years each of ░░░░░░░░ big three car manufacturer ░░░░░░░░ in addition to their ░░░░░░░░ million dollar salaries they ░░░░░░░░ on average a 40 ░░░░░░░░ increase So why are ░░░░░░░░ auto workers wanting a ░░░░░░░░ beyond what s been ░░░░░░░░ why is that so ░░░░░░░░ compared to the 40 ░░░░░░░░ they have given themselves ░░░░░░░░ spoke to Shawn Fain ░░░░░░░░ other day on air ░░░░░░░░ he is asking big ░░░░░░░░ like yourself have received ░░░░░░░░ pay increases like yourself ░░░░░░░░ why is it so ░░░░░░░░ with the union workers ░░░░░░░░ be asking for the ░░░░░░░░ thing Actually we re ░░░░░░░░ to huge increases 40 ░░░░░░░░ depends how you count ░░░░░░░░ I wasn t a ░░░░░░░░ four years ago so ░░░░░░░░ can t speak for ░░░░░░░░ but I will tell ░░░░░░░░ that we have put ░░░░░░░░ the table increases double ░░░░░░░░ increases what we ve ░░░░░░░░ seen before 20 plus ░░░░░░░░ But that s not ░░░░░░░░ Right and I m ░░░░░░░░ 40 will put us ░░░░░░░░ of business We would ░░░░░░░░ 15 billion We would ░░░░░░░░ to cut people close ░░░░░░░░ What s the good ░░░░░░░░ that It s not ░░░░░░░░ sustainable business There s ░░░░░░░░ fine line here that ░░░░░░░░ won t go past ░░░░░░░░ is we want everyone ░░░░░░░░ participate in our success ░░░░░░░░ if it prevents us ░░░░░░░░ investing in this transition ░░░░░░░░ evs and in future ░░░░░░░░ like the ones we ░░░░░░░░ now like a new ░░░░░░░░ the best selling vehicle ░░░░░░░░ the U S then ░░░░░░░░ s job is at ░░░░░░░░ if we don t ░░░░░░░░ So there s a ░░░░░░░░ The line isn t ░░░░░░░░ us to go bankrupt ░░░░░░░░ line is somewhere in ░░░░░░░░ middle and the only ░░░░░░░░ to resolve that is ░░░░░░░░ actually negotiate Jake has ░░░░░░░░ question It s just ░░░░░░░░ have been record auto ░░░░░░░░ bailouts by the U ░░░░░░░░ government these huge raises ░░░░░░░░ these CEOs are giving ░░░░░░░░ and I just wonder ░░░░░░░░ there isn t more ░░░░░░░░ a desire of the ░░░░░░░░ to have the workers ░░░░░░░░ in the profits that ░░░░░░░░ coming in to these ░░░░░░░░ makers who just need ░░░░░░░░ remind him were bailed ░░░░░░░░ by the U S ░░░░░░░░ a few years ago ░░░░░░░░ Jake reminds us that ░░░░░░░░ of the big three ░░░░░░░░ makers were bailed out ░░░░░░░░ know not ford Not ░░░░░░░░ But others were and ░░░░░░░░ have been record profits ░░░░░░░░ recent years across many ░░░░░░░░ the companies And you ░░░░░░░░ getting a very nice ░░░░░░░░ Why should the workers ░░░░░░░░ be able to share ░░░░░░░░ these record profits Yeah ░░░░░░░░ offer to the team ░░░░░░░░ reinstate protection for inflation ░░░░░░░░ rid of all the ░░░░░░░░ that were created during ░░░░░░░░ But what about the ░░░░░░░░ sharing Sure our profit ░░░░░░░░ we ve distributed over ░░░░░░░░ 000 over the last ░░░░░░░░ years to the workers ░░░░░░░░ ford We re actually ░░░░░░░░ only auto maker that ░░░░░░░░ added jobs to the ░░░░░░░░ since the great recession ░░░░░░░░ competitors added jobs ipother ░░░░░░░░ like Mexico and Canada ░░░░░░░░ didn t so we ░░░░░░░░ in a very different ░░░░░░░░ We have so many ░░░░░░░░ workers than any of ░░░░░░░░ competitors This is why ░░░░░░░░ were hopeful we could ░░░░░░░░ together and find a ░░░░░░░░ to reward our team ░░░░░░░░ profit sharing which will ░░░░░░░░ but healthy wage increases ░░░░░░░░ that we can work ░░░░░░░░ this hoisericistoric deal and ░░░░░░░░ forward But it s ░░░░░░░░ to negotiate with yourself ░░░░░░░░ question Your grandfather worked ░░░░░░░░ ford in the very ░░░░░░░░ days I imagine he ░░░░░░░░ advocating for himself at ░░░░░░░░ time as well What ░░░░░░░░ he think what is ░░░░░░░░ on right now with ░░░░░░░░ negotiations Yeah nigh grandfather ░░░░░░░░ in the early teens ░░░░░░░░ was the 389th employee ░░░░░░░░ the company And I ░░░░░░░░ he would say to ░░░░░░░░ get back to work ░░░░░░░░ what he would want ░░░░░░░░ Jim make sure everyone ░░░░░░░░ taken care of but ░░░░░░░░ sure everyone has a ░░░░░░░░ Those words ring in ░░░░░░░░ ears every night I ░░░░░░░░ to sleep.
