Pence: The Need for Affirmative Action Is ‘Over’

Supreme Court decisions ░░░░░░░░ Pence Thank you Jon ░░░░░░░░ to be on Karl ░░░░░░░░ the decision ending affirmative ░░░░░░░░ as we know it ░░░░░░░░ understand you fully support ░░░░░░░░ decision but if the ░░░░░░░░ result is that America ░░░░░░░░ most selective colleges and ░░░░░░░░ have fewer black and ░░░░░░░░ students is that a ░░░░░░░░ for America Pence Well ░░░░░░░░ I think I couldn ░░░░░░░░ be more proud of ░░░░░░░░ progress we ve made ░░░░░░░░ a more perfect union ░░░░░░░░ my lifetime the Civil ░░░░░░░░ Acts in the 1960s ░░░░░░░░ I think there was ░░░░░░░░ time for affirmative action ░░░░░░░░ to open the doors ░░░░░░░░ our colleges and universities ░░░░░░░░ minority students and particularly ░░░░░░░░ Americans who may have ░░░░░░░░ denied access But I ░░░░░░░░ those days are over ░░░░░░░░ know it was Justice ░░░░░░░░ Day O Connor who ░░░░░░░░ than 20 years ago ░░░░░░░░ that she thought affirmative ░░░░░░░░ would go away in ░░░░░░░░ years It went away ░░░░░░░░ little sooner than that ░░░░░░░░ I think that s ░░░░░░░░ tribute to our minority ░░░░░░░░ The incredible accomplishments of ░░░░░░░░ Americans and Asian Americans ░░░░░░░░ this country and Hispanic ░░░░░░░░ speaks for itself And ░░░░░░░░ really believe that the ░░░░░░░░ by the Supreme Court ░░░░░░░░ was an acknowledgement of ░░░░░░░░ incredible progress that minority ░░░░░░░░ have made their extraordinary ░░░░░░░░ achievements and I have ░░░░░░░░ confidence that that African ░░░░░░░░ and other minority Americans ░░░░░░░░ going to continue to ░░░░░░░░ and succeed in universities ░░░░░░░░ the country but we ░░░░░░░░ going to do it ░░░░░░░░ a colorblind society that ░░░░░░░░ I think is the ░░░░░░░░ of every American Karl ░░░░░░░░ respectfully you didn t ░░░░░░░░ my question We ve ░░░░░░░░ ve seen what has ░░░░░░░░ in nine states that ░░░░░░░░ banned affirmative action We ░░░░░░░░ seen in Michigan and ░░░░░░░░ and Florida that after ░░░░░░░░ action was done away ░░░░░░░░ the result was that ░░░░░░░░ saw fewer Hispanic and ░░░░░░░░ students at their elite ░░░░░░░░ So again my question ░░░░░░░░ you if that is ░░░░░░░░ result here is that ░░░░░░░░ concern Is that a ░░░░░░░░ for you Pence I ░░░░░░░░ look I I haven ░░░░░░░░ seen your studies I ░░░░░░░░ t know the numbers ░░░░░░░░ job I ever had ░░░░░░░░ as an admissions counselor ░░░░░░░░ the college I graduated ░░░░░░░░ and all I m ░░░░░░░░ very confident with the ░░░░░░░░ that we have made ░░░░░░░░ in 2023 a fourth ░░░░░░░░ the way through the ░░░░░░░░ century the achievements of ░░░░░░░░ Americans leaving aside the ░░░░░░░░ achievements of the first ░░░░░░░░ American president and African ░░░░░░░░ all across the country ░░░░░░░░ m just I m ░░░░░░░░ very confident that African ░░░░░░░░ Hispanic Americans and other ░░░░░░░░ are going to
