BRZEZINSKI We re reliant ░░░░░░░░ on China for semiconductor ░░░░░░░░ How long I mean ░░░░░░░░ there even an end ░░░░░░░░ sight to that reliance ░░░░░░░░ does America become America ░░░░░░░░ self reliant ELROD Well ░░░░░░░░ s a good question ░░░░░░░░ You know globalization is ░░░░░░░░ reality and China s ░░░░░░░░ going to be making ░░░░░░░░ sort of chip The ░░░░░░░░ in China is just ░░░░░░░░ to continue to continue ░░░░░░░░ happen But we saw ░░░░░░░░ during Covid disruptions to ░░░░░░░░ supply chain firsthand A ░░░░░░░░ of us witnessed it ░░░░░░░░ know you couldn t ░░░░░░░░ an electric car You ░░░░░░░░ t you know buy ░░░░░░░░ you know or or ░░░░░░░░ kitchen manufacturing appliances There ░░░░░░░░ so many things that ░░░░░░░░ couldn t buy because ░░░░░░░░ supply chain disruptions So ░░░░░░░░ we re saying here ░░░░░░░░ we at least need ░░░░░░░░ be able to make ░░░░░░░░ own chips here in ░░░░░░░░ United States leading edge ░░░░░░░░ notes chips that we ░░░░░░░░ in our everyday life ░░░░░░░░ that has an on ░░░░░░░░ off switch has a ░░░░░░░░ So how do we ░░░░░░░░ the capacity back here ░░░░░░░░ the United States where ░░░░░░░░ re actually producing more ░░░░░░░░ that China s going ░░░░░░░░ be reality China will ░░░░░░░░ producing chips but we ░░░░░░░░ the very least need ░░░░░░░░ be making the chips ░░░░░░░░ we use here in ░░░░░░░░ United States in a ░░░░░░░░ capacity than we currently ░░░░░░░░ and that s the ░░░░░░░░ And part of what ░░░░░░░░ re also saying with ░░░░░░░░ CHIPS and Science Act ░░░░░░░░ we want to make ░░░░░░░░ that we are building ░░░░░░░░ large scale leading edge ░░░░░░░░ through through this 54 ░░░░░░░░ that we ve been ░░░░░░░░ with to make sure ░░░░░░░░ that we have the ░░░░░░░░ to produce the chips ░░░░░░░░ we need here in ░░░░░░░░ United States BRZEZINSKI Adrienne ░░░░░░░░ with an update She ░░░░░░░░ Director of External and ░░░░░░░░ Affairs for the U ░░░░░░░░ Department of —“
