DeSantis: Sex Offenders Who Commit the Worst of the Worst Crimes Deserve the Worst of the Worst Punishment

DeSantis The other thing ░░░░░░░░ re doing is making ░░░░░░░░ that in Florida we ░░░░░░░░ for the protection of ░░░░░░░░ Cheering and Applause Unfortunately ░░░░░░░░ our society you have ░░░░░░░░ heinous sex crimes that ░░░░░░░░ committed against children under ░░░░░░░░ age of 12 years ░░░░░░░░ and these are really ░░░░░░░░ worst of the worst ░░░░░░░░ what happens is the ░░░░░░░░ of these crimes are ░░░░░░░░ times serial offenders and ░░░░░░░░ someone does one if ░░░░░░░░ if they rape a ░░░░░░░░ like and these are ░░░░░░░░ young very young children ░░░░░░░░ like 6 7 8 ░░░░░░░░ old if they do ░░░░░░░░ once chances are they ░░░░░░░░ do it again unless ░░░░░░░░ re stopped unless they ░░░░░░░░ incapacitated And so we ░░░░░░░░ believe that part of ░░░░░░░░ just society is to ░░░░░░░░ appropriate punishment and so ░░░░░░░░ you commit a crime ░░░░░░░░ is really really heinous ░░░░░░░░ should have the ultimate ░░░░░░░░ And so what this ░░░░░░░░ does is it challenges ░░░░░░░░ U S Supreme Court ░░░░░░░░ recently deciding probably six ░░░░░░░░ seven years ago they ░░░░░░░░ by 5 4 after ░░░░░░░░ 200 years of our ░░░░░░░░ being in place that ░░░░░░░░ you could never have ░░░░░░░░ punishment for crimes like ░░░░░░░░ even though some of ░░░░░░░░ are some of the ░░░░░░░░ of the worst even ░░░░░░░░ you can have serial ░░░░░░░░ who have violated multiple ░░░░░░░░ under the age of ░░░░░░░░ And so we think ░░░░░░░░ that decision was wrong ░░░░░░░░ think that in the ░░░░░░░░ of the worst cases ░░░░░░░░ only appropriate punishment is ░░░░░░░░ ultimate punishment and so ░░░░░░░░ bill sets up a ░░░░░░░░ to be able to ░░░░░░░░ that precedent to be ░░░░░░░░ to say that in ░░░░░░░░ we think that the ░░░░░░░░ of the worst crimes ░░░░░░░░ the worst of the ░░░░░░░░ punishment and I think ░░░░░░░░ that s the only ░░░░░░░░ that s appropriate Cheering ░░░░░░░░ Applause)
