VOSSOUGHIAN finish up this ░░░░░░░░ hour We want to ░░░░░░░░ a moment to reflect ░░░░░░░░ on this historic nature ░░░░░░░░ of what s happening ░░░░░░░░ as we witness a ░░░░░░░░ moment in this country ░░░░░░░░ democracy and our history ░░░░░░░░ just over two hours ░░░░░░░░ now former President Donald ░░░░░░░░ now the only president ░░░░░░░░ ever be criminally charged ░░░░░░░░ appear in front of ░░░░░░░░ judge in Lower Manhattan ░░░░░░░░ be arraigned on charges ░░░░░░░░ to hush money payments ░░░░░░░░ to adult film actress ░░░░░░░░ Daniels I want to ░░░░░░░░ in journalist and MSNBC ░░░░░░░░ Jonathan Alter to talk ░░░░░░░░ about this Jonathan expand ░░░░░░░░ this moment for us ░░░░░░░░ as we are all ░░░░░░░░ the arrival of former ░░░░░░░░ Donald Trump in just ░░░░░░░░ two hours from now ░░░░░░░░ So as everybody knows ░░░░░░░░ is totally unprecedented in ░░░░░░░░ history but it is ░░░░░░░░ out of character for ░░░░░░░░ history And I think ░░░░░░░░ s really important to ░░░░░░░░ that what s happening ░░░░░░░░ is very much in ░░░░░░░░ with what the Founders ░░░░░░░░ So they had provisions ░░░░░░░░ impeachment for dealing with ░░░░░░░░ that were committed by ░░░░░░░░ president in office but ░░░░░░░░ very much believed that ░░░░░░░░ we don t have ░░░░░░░░ king in this country ░░░░░░░░ when you leave office ░░░░░░░░ are subject to the ░░░░░░░░ like any other person ░░░░░░░░ and you know they ░░░░░░░░ the Constitution they have ░░░░░░░░ provisions for fair trials ░░░░░░░░ the right against self ░░░░░░░░ so Donald Trump can ░░░░░░░░ his Fifth Amendment privileges ░░░░░░░░ he wants but there ░░░░░░░░ nothing in there that ░░░░░░░░ Oh you re not ░░░░░░░░ to prosecute somebody after ░░░░░░░░ leave office if you ░░░░░░░░ indications that crimes have ░░░░░░░░ committed And so for ░░░░░░░░ Republicans to say that ░░░░░░░░ is somehow like this ░░░░░░░░ thing that you know ░░░░░░░░ re interfering in a ░░░░░░░░ election we should let ░░░░░░░░ people decide not have ░░░░░░░░ courts decide that s ░░░░░░░░ UN American argument because ░░░░░░░░ over this country for ░░░░░░░░ literally hundreds of years ░░░░░░░░ prosecutors have gone after ░░░░░░░░ who are seeking reelection ░░░░░░░░ you know even in ░░░░░░░░ office for crimes they ░░░░░░░░ may have been committed ░░░░░░░░ what Alvin Bragg is ░░░░░░░░ is very very much ░░░░░░░░ the American tradition.”
