on ░░░░░░░░ informing you all through ░░░░░░░░ Live and stories last ░░░░░░░░ that I was going ░░░░░░░░ a congressional delegation trip ░░░░░░░░ Tokyo there were some ░░░░░░░░ in my comments being ░░░░░░░░ Oh I was with ░░░░░░░░ with everything you re ░░░░░░░░ until you said you ░░░░░░░░ going on this trip ░░░░░░░░ don t approve of ░░░░░░░░ of Congress going out ░░░░░░░░ these trips Why are ░░░░░░░░ taxpayer dollars going towards ░░░░░░░░ Well let s talk ░░░░░░░░ that right up front ░░░░░░░░ of all don t ░░░░░░░░ a lot of these ░░░░░░░░ are not necessarily funded ░░░░░░░░ by taxpayer dollars In ░░░░░░░░ the travel for delegation ░░░░░░░░ like these the funding ░░░░░░░░ it either has to ░░░░░░░░ through separate fund raising ░░░░░░░░ the host country will ░░░░░░░░ facilitating that Some other ░░░░░░░░ may be a little ░░░░░░░░ differently may be a ░░░░░░░░ bit different if they ░░░░░░░░ military associated But this ░░░░░░░░ is primarily centered on ░░░░░░░░ couple of different things ░░░░░░░░ would say it s ░░░░░░░░ on economics trade climate ░░░░░░░░ human rights The actual ░░░░░░░░ focus of this trip ░░░░░░░░ what is known as ░░░░░░░░ trilateral legislative exchange So ░░░░░░░░ will be meeting with ░░░░░░░░ of the Japanese parliament ░░░░░░░░ known as the Diet ░░░░░░░░ in Japan I just ░░░░░░░░ with one today And ░░░░░░░░ will also be going ░░░░░░░░ South Korea for one ░░░░░░░░ two days and meeting ░░░░░░░░ members of parliament there ░░░░░░░░ members of the Japanese ░░░░░░░░ also going to South ░░░░░░░░ And why do we ░░░░░░░░ this Why are we ░░░░░░░░ this Well let s ░░░░░░░░ some important context to ░░░░░░░░ s going on Later ░░░░░░░░ year in May President ░░░░░░░░ is going to be ░░░░░░░░ what is known as ░░░░░░░░ G 7 summit The ░░░░░░░░ 7 summit is it ░░░░░░░░ the group of seven ░░░░░░░░ of seven major economies ░░░░░░░░ the world and Japan ░░░░░░░░ be hosting the G ░░░░░░░░ Now when we have ░░░░░░░░ and heads of state ░░░░░░░░ to gather for the ░░░░░░░░ 7 the G 20 ░░░░░░░░ any of these other ░░░░░░░░ of summits or conferences ░░░░░░░░ aren t just going ░░░░░░░░ out from the sky ░░░░░░░░ individually meeting one other ░░░░░░░░ There is a ton ░░░░░░░░ political and diplomatic legwork ░░░░░░░░ leads up to some ░░░░░░░░ these gatherings In addition ░░░░░░░░ that you will see ░░░░░░░░ often you know once ░░░░░░░░ several years there will ░░░░░░░░ major legislation whether it ░░░░░░░░ a trade agreement a ░░░░░░░░ trade agreement sometimes you ░░░░░░░░ hear you know during ░░░░░░░░ last presidency former President ░░░░░░░░ talking about tariffs all ░░░░░░░░ kinds of things And ░░░░░░░░ often require again a ░░░░░░░░ of legwork and diplomacy ░░░░░░░░ can lead up to ░░░░░░░░ of positive developments and ░░░░░░░░ between governments And my ░░░░░░░░ here in this trip ░░░░░░░░ that as someone who ░░░░░░░░ the author of the ░░░░░░░░ New Deal and really ░░░░░░░░ to make sure that ░░░░░░░░ can facilitate global cooperation ░░░░░░░░ climate change and reducing ░░░░░░░░ carbon emissions that we ░░░░░░░░ figure out how we ░░░░░░░░ start really collaborating globally ░░░░░░░░ drawing down our emissions ░░░░░░░░ working together to meet ░░░░░░░░ global challenge In addition ░░░░░░░░ that there are also ░░░░░░░░ important backdrops when it ░░░░░░░░ to human rights particularly ░░░░░░░░ s rights and LGBT ░░░░░░░░ rights and marriage equality ░░░░░░░░ borders as well as ░░░░░░░░ couple of other things ░░░░░░░░ energy sources looking at ░░░░░░░░ Japan is dealing and ░░░░░░░░ nuclear energy I am ░░░░░░░░ excited about the bullet ░░░░░░░░ here otherwise known as ░░░░░░░░ Shinkansen system and how ░░░░░░░░ can bring high speed ░░░░░░░░ and bullet trains to ░░░░░░░░ United States.”
