Bream to Katie Hobbs: Did the ‘Reality of the Situation’ Make You Realize that Busing Migrants Isn’t a ‘Waste of Taxpayer’s Money?’

BREAM So taking on ░░░░░░░░ governor s office you ░░░░░░░░ a slew of huge ░░░░░░░░ that meets you on ░░░░░░░░ one in the door ░░░░░░░░ is one of the ░░░░░░░░ most impacted by the ░░░░░░░░ situation So let s ░░░░░░░░ about that because under ░░░░░░░░ previous governor he was ░░░░░░░░ Republican he did bussing ░░░░░░░░ you said was a ░░░░░░░░ of taxpayer money and ░░░░░░░░ political stunt but NPR ░░░░░░░░ notes that many Democrat ░░░░░░░░ and mayors are considering ░░░░░░░░ same thing They say ░░░░░░░░ has helped shift the ░░░░░░░░ of transporting migrants So ░░░░░░░░ that what happened The ░░░░░░░░ for you of the ░░░░░░░░ the strain on your ░░░░░░░░ border communities and that ░░░░░░░░ of thing did that ░░░░░░░░ in your mind a ░░░░░░░░ on whether it is ░░░░░░░░ or not to be ░░░░░░░░ people out of the ░░░░░░░░ HOBBS Yeah we have ░░░░░░░░ the program but I ░░░░░░░░ with a more humane ░░░░░░░░ a more efficient spin ░░░░░░░░ it This money was ░░░░░░░░ by the legislature to ░░░░░░░░ bus these legal asylum ░░░░░░░░ and so our decision ░░░░░░░░ to get them where ░░░░░░░░ need to go to ░░░░░░░░ sponsor or where they ░░░░░░░░ resources and support instead ░░░░░░░░ just putting them on ░░░░░░░░ bus to D C ░░░░░░░░ is expensive it s ░░░░░░░░ of travel with lodging ░░░░░░░░ food expenses We want ░░░░░░░░ get them where they ░░░░░░░░ to go That is ░░░░░░░░ relief to these communities ░░░░░░░░ need it but also ░░░░░░░░ more humane response to ░░░░░░░░ folks BREAM So what ░░░░░░░░ those who point to ░░░░░░░░ of the federal policies ░░░░░░░░ we have and they ░░░░░░░░ it is a magnet ░░░░░░░░ about Arizonans who may ░░░░░░░░ Okay don t use ░░░░░░░░ tax dollars to invite ░░░░░░░░ here and then tell ░░░░░░░░ we are going to ░░░░░░░░ them a paid trip ░░░░░░░░ where they actually want ░░░░░░░░ go within the state ░░░░░░░░ t that an attractive ░░░░░░░░ at a time when ░░░░░░░░ re seeing record numbers ░░░░░░░░ illegal immigration at the ░░░░░░░░ HOBBS I mean it ░░░░░░░░ could be seen that ░░░░░░░░ This is money that ░░░░░░░░ appropriated by our Republican ░░░░░░░░ in the previous legislative ░░░░░░░░ at the governor s ░░░░░░░░ to do this bussing ░░░░░░░░ So it s already ░░░░░░░░ money I want to ░░░░░░░░ on how we use ░░░░░░░░ taxpayer resources in the ░░░░░░░░ way possible to address ░░░░░░░░ needs of the impacted ░░░░░░░░ but then continue to ░░░░░░░░ Washington to actually solve ░░░░░░░░ issue.”
