have you on the ░░░░░░░░ I want to start ░░░░░░░░ what has happened in ░░░░░░░░ past two weeks We ░░░░░░░░ had these three mass ░░░░░░░░ Back in June you ░░░░░░░░ to push through this ░░░░░░░░ investment in shoring up ░░░░░░░░ flag laws and background ░░░░░░░░ 13 billion expansion And ░░░░░░░░ in Virginia both of ░░░░░░░░ gun buyers legally purchased ░░░░░░░░ weapons allegedly so did ░░░░░░░░ one in Colorado What ░░░░░░░░ that tell you about ░░░░░░░░ efficacy of the federal ░░░░░░░░ Clyburn Well thank you ░░░░░░░░ much for having me ░░░░░░░░ tells me all I ░░░░░░░░ to know And but ░░░░░░░░ in those two Virginia ░░░░░░░░ So is the problem ░░░░░░░░ type of weapon And ░░░░░░░░ that is the solution ░░░░░░░░ re putting forward how ░░░░░░░░ you get 60 votes ░░░░░░░░ the Senate Clyburn Well ░░░░░░░░ don t know how ░░░░░░░░ get 60 votes in ░░░░░░░░ Senate And that s ░░░░░░░░ I always take issue ░░░░░░░░ the fact we do ░░░░░░░░ control the Senate It ░░░░░░░░ 50 50 in the ░░░░░░░░ and that is a ░░░░░░░░ for us We need ░░░░░░░░ sit down in a ░░░░░░░░ way and say Look ░░░░░░░░ can we do to ░░░░░░░░ the public Nobody wants ░░░░░░░░ take anybody s guns ░░░░░░░░ Your Second Amendment is ░░░░░░░░ to protect everybody But ░░░░░░░░ is the First Amendment ░░░░░░░░ it s not unfettered ░░░░░░░░ s very clear BRENNAN ░░░░░░░░ so what are you ░░░░░░░░ to do in the ░░░░░░░░ duck You just said ░░░░░░░░ the lame duck you ░░░░░░░░ to take action What ░░░░░░░░ that mean What are ░░░░░░░░ going to do Clyburn ░░░░░░░░ we ve already passed ░░░░░░░░ bills in the House ░░░░░░░░ re trying to get ░░░░░░░░ Senate to act We ░░░░░░░░ done this on the ░░░░░░░░ side And so that ░░░░░░░░ the problem Democrats control ░░░░░░░░ House BRENNAN Right Clyburn ░░░░░░░░ we passed the bill ░░░░░░░░ do not control the ░░░░░░░░ And that s where ░░░░░░░░ filibuster is causing us ░░░░░░░░ BRENNAN Right And in ░░░░░░░░ new Congress after January ░░░░░░░░ the prospect of any ░░░░░░░░ of gun reform dead ░░░░░░░░ arrival or can you ░░░░░░░░ off some votes from ░░░░░░░░ McCarthy s caucus here ░░░░░░░░ help move something when ░░░░░░░░ are in the minority ░░░░░░░░ Well you know if ░░░░░░░░ look at the results ░░░░░░░░ the election and you ░░░░░░░░ to California you go ░░░░░░░░ New York even in ░░░░░░░░ districts in North Carolina ░░░░░░░░ we picked up seats ░░░░░░░░ do have a more ░░░░░░░░ absolutely but we need ░░░░░░░░ go further than that ░░░░░░░░ need to look at ░░░░░░░░ John R Lewis Voting ░░░░░░░░ Act I m not ░░░░░░░░ to get off of ░░░░░░░░ I do believe that ░░░░░░░░ need to do something ░░░░░░░░ the Electoral Count Reform ░░░░░░░░ These two things are ░░░░░░░░ to our democracy and ░░░░░░░░ need to keep them ░░░░░░░░ the forefront Yes keep ░░░░░░░░ government open but let ░░░░░░░░ also keep fundamental rights ░░░░░░░░ And that to me ░░░░░░░░ be one and two ░░░░░░░░ these gun safety laws ░░░░░░░░ be closely thereafter BRENNAN ░░░░░░░░ are holding leadership
