GLAAD CEO: Politicians’ Rhetoric ‘Does Lead to Violence’ and Hate

GOLODRYGA Until recently Club ░░░░░░░░ was considered the only ░░░░░░░░ place in Colorado Springs ░░░░░░░░ the LGBTQ community and ░░░░░░░░ it is closed indefinitely ░░░░░░░░ community advocates believe a ░░░░░░░░ of hateful rhetoric and ░░░░░░░░ towards the group are ░░░░░░░░ attacks like these Joining ░░░░░░░░ is Sarah Kate Ellis ░░░░░░░░ CEO and president of ░░░░░░░░ the world s largest ░░░░░░░░ advocacy organization Sarah Ellis ░░░░░░░░ you so much for ░░░░░░░░ us So what happens ░░░░░░░░ safe spaces like Club ░░░░░░░░ are closed Where can ░░░░░░░░ in the LGBTQ community ░░░░░░░░ to feel safe and ░░░░░░░░ ELLIS Yeah That s ░░░░░░░░ tough one We ve ░░░░░░░░ over the past several ░░░░░░░░ too more and more ░░░░░░░░ safe spaces close down ░░░░░░░░ after Covid and whatnot ░░░░░░░░ they are getting smaller ░░░░░░░░ smaller but as a ░░░░░░░░ we always have Pride ░░░░░░░░ and we always do ░░░░░░░░ places and spaces but ░░░░░░░░ really think that it ░░░░░░░░ t be on us ░░░░░░░░ figure that out when ░░░░░░░░ feel as though that ░░░░░░░░ was taken over by ░░░░░░░░ discrimination and that is ░░░░░░░░ direct response from the ░░░░░░░░ from these politicians that ░░░░░░░░ have been seeing Rhetoric ░░░░░░░░ lead to violence and ░░░░░░░░ have been we re ░░░░░░░░ a 12 year high ░░░░░░░░ hate crimes 41 percent ░░░░░░░░ in hate crimes against ░░░░░░░░ transgender community And we ░░░░░░░░ a direct line between ░░░░░░░░ and what our politicians ░░░░░░░░ saying on the airwaves ░░░░░░░░ how they are pushing ░░░░░░░░ over 300 anti LGBTQ ░░░░░░░░ this year so far ░░░░░░░░ that don t need ░░░░░░░░ exist bills that are ░░░░░░░░ away our rights that ░░░░░░░░ policing our body And ░░░░░░░░ on top of that ░░░░░░░░ want to say when ░░░░░░░░ look at these social ░░░░░░░░ companies that go unchecked ░░░░░░░░ take that hate take ░░░░░░░░ disinformation and spread it ░░░░░░░░ wildfire because they make ░░░░░░░░ off of it those ░░░░░░░░ the people that need ░░░░░░░░ be answering what do ░░░░░░░░ do next They need ░░░░░░░░ figure out how to ░░░░░░░░ doing this so we ░░░░░░░░ t need to live ░░░░░░░░ fear so that our ░░░░░░░░ spaces continue to be ░░░░░░░░ spaces GOLODRYGA And Sarah ░░░░░░░░ this isn t unfortunately ░░░░░░░░ case that s just ░░░░░░░░ to one city or ░░░░░░░░ state.”
