Gov. DeSantis on Reported Hundreds of Fatalities in Lee County: ‘None of that Is Confirmed’

DeSantis OK Reporter There ░░░░░░░░ been reports that maybe ░░░░░░░░ were hundreds of fatalities ░░░░░░░░ Lee County Do you ░░░░░░░░ any clarification on how ░░░░░░░░ crosstalk DeSantis So none ░░░░░░░░ that is confirmed I ░░░░░░░░ what that is is ░░░░░░░░ were 911 calls for ░░░░░░░░ saying Hey the water ░░░░░░░░ rising in my home ░░░░░░░░ m going to go ░░░░░░░░ in the attic but ░░░░░░░░ m really worried Of ░░░░░░░░ those folks are now ░░░░░░░░ to be going to ░░░░░░░░ checked on And so ░░░░░░░░ think you ll have ░░░░░░░░ clarity about that in ░░░░░░░░ the next day or ░░░░░░░░ as they re able ░░░░░░░░ go to those locations ░░░░░░░░ determine whether people need ░░░░░░░░ services or able to ░░░░░░░░ rescued My sense is ░░░░░░░░ that you know that ░░░░░░░░ was very very high ░░░░░░░░ my hope is is ░░░░░░░░ if folks did go ░░░░░░░░ if they were there ░░░░░░░░ s not comfortable but ░░░░░░░░ we re in a ░░░░░░░░ I mean if you ░░░░░░░░ there they want to ░░░░░░░░ get you And and ░░░░░░░░ hopefully we ll be ░░░░░░░░ to see a lot ░░░░░░░░ those people brought to ░░░░░░░░ And I can tell ░░░░░░░░ in the barrier islands ░░░░░░░░ mean there have been ░░░░░░░░ number of people that ░░░░░░░░ been helicoptered to safety ░░░░░░░░ and it s great ░░░░░░░░ you know these folks ░░░░░░░░ into action and they ░░░░░░░░ doing it We have ░░░░░░░░ the two unconfirmed fatalities ░░░░░░░░ the sense that we ░░░░░░░░ t know that they ░░░░░░░░ linked to the storm ░░░░░░░░ mean our assumption is ░░░░░░░░ likely is and so ░░░░░░░░ FDLE will will make ░░░░░░░░ assessment and then that ░░░░░░░░ will be reported But ░░░░░░░░ that s what what ░░░░░░░░ have that number that ░░░░░░░░ put out by Lee ░░░░░░░░ basically an estimate of ░░░░░░░░ these people were calling ░░░░░░░░ water was rising on ░░░░░░░░ home they may not ░░░░░░░░ ended up ended up ░░░░░░░░ through So so we ░░░░░░░░ obviously hoping that that ░░░░░░░░ they can be rescued ░░░░░░░░ this point And I ░░░░░░░░ the folks there locally ░░░░░░░░ were the areas that ░░░░░░░░ wanted to spring into ░░░░░░░░ to and they really ░░░░░░░░ the information that was ░░░░░░░░ not just through those ░░░░░░░░ calls but also through ░░░░░░░░ up on the website ░░░░░░░░ see and I think ░░░░░░░░ s safe to say ░░░░░░░░ there s a pattern ░░░░░░░░ s developed about where ░░░░░░░░ calls are coming from ░░░░░░░░ where those people are ░░░░░░░░ up from And you ░░░░░░░░ see the areas I ░░░░░░░░ no one wants to ░░░░░░░░ I mean you see ░░░░░░░░ foot of water in ░░░░░░░░ in a in a ░░░░░░░░ I mean that s ░░░░░░░░ bad that s going ░░░░░░░░ do damage But you ░░░░░░░░ the places where the ░░░░░░░░ was four or five ░░░░░░░░ feet in a residential ░░░░░░░░ and that is really ░░░░░░░░ life threatening situation.”
