░░░░░░░░ right now Unless Democrats ░░░░░░░░ a clear answer I ░░░░░░░░ that s a risk ░░░░░░░░ finally in recent times ░░░░░░░░ presidents haven t run ░░░░░░░░ reelection Harry Truman in ░░░░░░░░ lyndon Johnson in 1968 ░░░░░░░░ Republicans won So it ░░░░░░░░ t necessarily benefit the ░░░░░░░░ to have the incumbent ░░░░░░░░ down That historical precedent ░░░░░░░░ Let s take a ░░░░░░░░ at some CNN polling ░░░░░░░░ earlier this year Among ░░░░░░░░ and democratic leaning independents ░░░░░░░░ asked about the 2024 ░░░░░░░░ nominations 45 said Biden ░░░░░░░░ said pick someone else ░░░░░░░░ had no opinion What ░░░░░░░░ those numbers tell you ░░░░░░░░ pick someone else is ░░░░░░░░ and it should be ░░░░░░░░ to the administration I ░░░░░░░░ t think the administration ░░░░░░░░ takes that and says ░░░░░░░░ re not going to ░░░░░░░░ again Rather I think ░░░░░░░░ need to do what ░░░░░░░░ was saying to really ░░░░░░░░ to lay out what ░░░░░░░░ next two years are ░░░░░░░░ to look like And ░░░░░░░░ important to figure out ░░░░░░░░ they are going to ░░░░░░░░ to make sure the ░░░░░░░░ doesn t go into ░░░░░░░░ recession If they can ░░░░░░░░ the economy well and ░░░░░░░░ a vision for 2024 ░░░░░░░░ s very conceivable to ░░░░░░░░ him going on and ░░░░░░░░ reelection And let s ░░░░░░░░ at the Republican side ░░░░░░░░ for a second That ░░░░░░░░ CNN poll finding former ░░░░░░░░ Trump got 49 of ░░░░░░░░ vote to be the ░░░░░░░░ s nominee in 2024 ░░░░░░░░ s 76 just three ░░░░░░░░ younger than Biden Does ░░░░░░░░ run into these same ░░░░░░░░ about his age as ░░░░░░░░ Well he will And ░░░░░░░░ did come up during ░░░░░░░░ first term already And ░░░░░░░░ it s in the ░░░░░░░░ for one candidate it ░░░░░░░░ be in the air ░░░░░░░░ both candidates Right now ░░░░░░░░ do think the former ░░░░░░░░ has much more fervent ░░░░░░░░ with his base in ░░░░░░░░ ways which insulates him ░░░░░░░░ some of these concerns ░░░░░░░░ Republicans tend to be ░░░░░░░░ more disciplined and united ░░░░░░░░ fight amongst themselves much ░░░░░░░░ So I think that ░░░░░░░░ it a little harder ░░░░░░░░ Biden on that question ░░░░░░░░ Trump And of course ░░░░░░░░ is in power So ░░░░░░░░ person in power will ░░░░░░░░ the greatest criticism And ░░░░░░░░ s go back to ░░░░░░░░ Democrats and to President ░░░░░░░░ for a second I ░░░░░░░░ you when you said ░░░░░░░░ the economy going getting ░░░░░░░░ handle on that and ░░░░░░░░ themselves that they have ░░░░░░░░ good chance for 2024 ░░░░░░░░ you believe that the ░░░░░░░░ debate over abortion rights ░░░░░░░░ gun control some of ░░░░░░░░ key issues can revitalize ░░░░░░░░ in the eyes of ░░░░░░░░ It might revitalize Biden ░░░░░░░░ it might re energize ░░░░░░░░ voters We saw in ░░░░░░░░ how suburban female voters ░░░░░░░░ really important in mobilizing ░░░░░░░░ vote in voting in ░░░░░░░░ midterms which hurt the ░░░░░░░░ president and the president ░░░░░░░░ standing This is a ░░░░░░░░ issue So we ll ░░░░░░░░ what the Supreme Court ░░░░░░░░ But with that and ░░░░░░░░ rights I do think ░░░░░░░░ could energize the eelectorate ░░░░░░░░ so much how they ░░░░░░░░ feel about the president ░░░░░░░░ of course you re ░░░░░░░░ historian Looking back what ░░░░░░░░ history tell us about ░░░░░░░░ we re seeing play ░░░░░░░░ right now for President ░░░░░░░░ and the political circumstances ░░░░░░░░ him Look the good ░░░░░░░░ is you can recover ░░░░░░░░ there s many examples ░░░░░░░░ presidents doing that The ░░░░░░░░ news is bad economic ░░░░░░░░ if they continue will ░░░░░░░░ the president President George ░░░░░░░░ w bush in 92 ░░░░░░░░ the economy went the ░░░░░░░░ way lost to president ░░░░░░░░ Clinton Second if there ░░░░░░░░ a primary challenge that ░░░░░░░░ hurts the incumbent Incumbent ░░░░░░░░ don t recover from ░░░░░░░░ serious primary challenge So ░░░░░░░░ s a lot of ░░░░░░░░ and challenges that Biden ░░░░░░░░ facing to get to ░░░░░░░░ and to win And ░░░░░░░░ s an old political ░░░░░░░░ that goes something like ░░░░░░░░ want to just fall ░░░░░░░░ love Republicans just want ░░░░░░░░ fall in line when ░░░░░░░░ comes to presidential nominees ░░░░░░░░ you think that holds ░░░░░░░░ heading into 2024 I ░░░░░░░░ we re still years ░░░░░░░░ Yeah look it s ░░░░░░░░ as true as it ░░░░░░░░ to be In fact ░░░░░░░░ s ascendancy in 2016 ░░░░░░░░ some of that conventional ░░░░░░░░ But it is true ░░░░░░░░ overall the Republicans have ░░░░░░░░ more in terms of ░░░░░░░░ around their candidates around ░░░░░░░░ leadership where Democrats are ░░░░░░░░ more fractured and divided ░░░░░░░░ It s just a ░░░░░░░░
