Ali Velshi Reporting in Front of Burning Building: ‘This Is Mostly a Protest’ and Generally Speaking ‘Not Unruly’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT Sounds of ░░░░░░░░ going off Ali Velshi ░░░░░░░░ back at his location ░░░░░░░░ of our correspondents are ░░░░░░░░ of around the same ░░░░░░░░ Ali go ahead reporter ░░░░░░░░ Morgan and I are ░░░░░░░░ of crisscrossing each the ░░░░░░░░ store fire he was ░░░░░░░░ about was over that ░░░░░░░░ This is the other ░░░░░░░░ stores and the folks ░░░░░░░░ me There s the ░░░░░░░░ station fire over there ░░░░░░░░ lot of activity now ░░░░░░░░ s become it s ░░░░░░░░ center of activity in ░░░░░░░░ of the police station ░░░░░░░░ crowd has now moved ░░░░░░░░ there At this point ░░░░░░░░ seems to be center ░░░░░░░░ what s going on ░░░░░░░░ me just give you ░░░░░░░░ sense of it What ░░░░░░░░ said was interesting For ░░░░░░░░ of the day today ░░░░░░░░ looked a lot calmer ░░░░░░░░ yesterday looked And that ░░░░░░░░ what happened yesterday It ░░░░░░░░ up later in the ░░░░░░░░ The crowds gathered here ░░░░░░░░ the standoff with the ░░░░░░░░ looked very different last ░░░░░░░░ Police had lined up ░░░░░░░░ overnight they put up ░░░░░░░░ and barricades so that ░░░░░░░░ couldn t get there ░░░░░░░░ s what broke through ░░░░░░░░ it caused a new ░░░░░░░░ of focus for the ░░░░░░░░ The idea that they ░░░░░░░░ then try and take ░░░░░░░░ police station from the ░░░░░░░░ Again we were very ░░░░░░░░ to find out that ░░░░░░░░ were police actually in ░░░░░░░░ building but there were ░░░░░░░░ were about five police ░░░░░░░░ came out They had ░░░░░░░░ weapons with them that ░░░░░░░░ the gas canisters and ░░░░░░░░ dispersed the crowd which ░░░░░░░░ came this way and ░░░░░░░░ this activity and a ░░░░░░░░ that occurred over there ░░░░░░░░ again there are fires ░░░░░░░░ you mentioned at the ░░░░░░░░ of the show There ░░░░░░░░ at least four fires ░░░░░░░░ I can see and ░░░░░░░░ s just in this ░░░░░░░░ radius that Morgan and ░░░░░░░░ are in Obviously some ░░░░░░░░ them are very active ░░░░░░░░ one has very obviously ░░░░░░░░ to the buildings on ░░░░░░░░ side of it the ░░░░░░░░ store and the shop ░░░░░░░░ the left But there ░░░░░░░░ no ability and I ░░░░░░░░ think we have to ░░░░░░░░ this The National Guard ░░░░░░░░ been activated They are ░░░░░░░░ here The police are ░░░░░░░░ here The police have ░░░░░░░░ evacuated The fire engines ░░░░░░░░ t get in here ░░░░░░░░ s no ability to ░░░░░░░░ anybody in here to ░░░░░░░░ this problem I want ░░░░░░░░ be clear on how ░░░░░░░░ characterize this This is ░░░░░░░░ a protest It is ░░░░░░░░ generally speaking unruly But ░░░░░░░░ have been started and ░░░░░░░░ s a crowd that ░░░░░░░░ relishing that There is ░░░░░░░░ deep sense of grievance ░░░░░░░░ complaint here and that ░░░░░░░░ the thing When you ░░░░░░░░ people who are doing ░░░░░░░░ to public property that ░░░░░░░░ shouldn t be doing ░░░░░░░░ does have to be ░░░░░░░░ that this city has ░░░░░░░░ for the last several ░░░░░░░░ an issue with police ░░░░░░░░ it s got a ░░░░░░░░ sense of the deep ░░░░░░░░ of grievance of inequality ░░░░░░░░ mentioned earlier before we ░░░░░░░░ video how did we ░░░░░░░░ about these things Now ░░░░░░░░ have video We have ░░░░░░░░ angles of this thing ░░░░░░░░ the people who are ░░░░░░░░ to me not an ░░░░░░░░ and I don t ░░░░░░░░ access to the information ░░░░░░░░ investigators have But they ░░░░░░░░ saying what more do ░░░░░░░░ need You ve got ░░░░░░░░ angles of video Why ░░░░░░░░ t there been arrests ░░░░░░░░ the FBI and the ░░░░░░░░ bureau of apprehensions and ░░░░░░░░ hennepin county attorney all ░░░░░░░░ whom are proceeding are ░░░░░░░░ very carefully This crowd ░░░░░░░░ not looking for careful ░░░░░░░░ now They are looking ░░░░░░░░ something that feels like ░░░░░░░░ and they don t ░░░░░░░░ to be getting it.
