Youngkin Meets with Northam: ‘Today Was the Beginning of a Friendship’

NORTHAM Well hello to ░░░░░░░░ and and thanks for ░░░░░░░░ here We ve just ░░░░░░░░ a a wonderful lunch ░░░░░░░░ I had the opportunity ░░░░░░░░ I know it s ░░░░░░░░ very busy time for ░░░░░░░░ elect and Ms Youngkin ░░░░░░░░ they took the time ░░░░░░░░ come over here and ░░░░░░░░ us the opportunity to ░░░░░░░░ one congratulate them on ░░░░░░░░ successful campaign and also ░░░░░░░░ welcome you to your ░░░░░░░░ home We talked about ░░░░░░░░ number of things but ░░░░░░░░ of all just our ░░░░░░░░ pride and the privilege ░░░░░░░░ being able to be ░░░░░░░░ the 73rd governor and ░░░░░░░░ Youngkin the 74th governor ░░░░░░░░ the Commonwealth of Virginia ░░░░░░░░ talked about something that ░░░░░░░░ share in common We ░░░░░░░░ have wonderful wives and ░░░░░░░░ ladies they re both ░░░░░░░░ Texas interestingly and so ░░░░░░░░ have been able to ░░░░░░░░ reminisce and talk about ░░░░░░░░ of their past in ░░░░░░░░ And probably one of ░░░░░░░░ most important things that ░░░░░░░░ talked about today is ░░░░░░░░ know Mr Youngkin and ░░░░░░░░ share something in common ░░░░░░░░ both enjoy playing basketball ░░░░░░░░ his career progressed a ░░░░░░░░ farther than mine did ░░░░░░░░ we have picked out ░░░░░░░░ perfect place for a ░░░░░░░░ goal behind the mansion ░░░░░░░░ I m looking forward ░░░░░░░░ coming over here and ░░░░░░░░ Looking forward to it ░░░░░░░░ and shooting some hoops ░░░░░░░░ you I wanted to ░░░░░░░░ take this opportunity very ░░░░░░░░ to thank some people ░░░░░░░░ one I want to ░░░░░░░░ you the press It ░░░░░░░░ been our goal during ░░░░░░░░ last four years to ░░░░░░░░ accurate and up to ░░░░░░░░ information to our fellow ░░░░░░░░ and I have enjoyed ░░░░░░░░ with all of you ░░░░░░░░ appreciate the work that ░░░░░░░░ do Secondly some individuals ░░░░░░░░ don t get enough ░░░░░░░░ and credit are not ░░░░░░░░ our current First Lady ░░░░░░░░ future First Lady but ░░░░░░░░ First Ladies have done ░░░░░░░░ much wonderful work not ░░░░░░░░ here at the governor ░░░░░░░░ mansion welcoming people here ░░░░░░░░ also across the Commonwealth ░░░░░░░░ Pam to her credit ░░░░░░░░ done so much work ░░░░░░░░ early childhood education and ░░░░░░░░ stewards of our environment ░░░░░░░░ sure we have clean ░░░░░░░░ and clean water So ░░░░░░░░ you to all our ░░░░░░░░ First Ladies and future ░░░░░░░░ Ladies thank you for ░░░░░░░░ I also wanted to ░░░░░░░░ this opportunity to thank ░░░░░░░░ EPU our Executive Protection ░░░░░░░░ They are around you ░░░░░░░░ you don t see ░░░░░░░░ most of them but ░░░░░░░░ have done such a ░░░░░░░░ job keeping Pam and ░░░░░░░░ safe as well as ░░░░░░░░ family they are members ░░░░░░░░ the Virginia State Police ░░░░░░░░ there are no finer ░░░░░░░░ and women in my ░░░░░░░░ So to our EPU ░░░░░░░░ want to say thank ░░░░░░░░ I want to also ░░░░░░░░ our our mansion staff ░░░░░░░░ the chef to our ░░░░░░░░ director to the people ░░░░░░░░ really have spoiled Pam ░░░░░░░░ me for the last ░░░░░░░░ years and also have ░░░░░░░░ such a good job ░░░░░░░░ have been such a ░░░░░░░░ a large part of ░░░░░░░░ decorations that we have ░░░░░░░░ portraits telling the history ░░░░░░░░ Virginia which is so ░░░░░░░░ and welcoming all of ░░░░░░░░ So I just speak ░░░░░░░░ behalf of Pam and ░░░░░░░░ this has been a ░░░░░░░░ privilege We look forward ░░░░░░░░ Mr Youngkin and his ░░░░░░░░ taking over and continuing ░░░░░░░░ a lot of the ░░░░░░░░ progress that we made ░░░░░░░░ as far as welcoming ░░░░░░░░ Glenn and Suzanne I ░░░░░░░░ and I m sure ░░░░░░░░ ve seen these before ░░░░░░░░ I have some challenge ░░░░░░░░ and this is my ░░░░░░░░ coin that has a ░░░░░░░░ of the mansion on ░░░░░░░░ front and then the ░░░░░░░░ seal on the back ░░░░░░░░ I would like you ░░░░░░░░ have this just welcoming ░░░░░░░░ to your new home ░░░░░░░░ please welcome our Governor ░░░░░░░░ to be the 74th ░░░░░░░░ of the Commonwealth Virginia ░░░░░░░░ Glenn Youngkin YOUNGKIN Governor ░░░░░░░░ you very much Thank ░░░░░░░░ Well good afternoon and ░░░░░░░░ you all for being ░░░░░░░░ And we just had ░░░░░░░░ lovely lunch I can ░░░░░░░░ describe it any other ░░░░░░░░ And to be welcomed ░░░░░░░░ such grace into this ░░░░░░░░ is incredibly humbling for ░░░░░░░░ and me You know ░░░░░░░░ m a I m ░░░░░░░░ homegrown Virginian and to ░░░░░░░░ a moment to stand ░░░░░░░░ in front of this ░░░░░░░░ building and to stand ░░░░░░░░ and think about all ░░░░░░░░ the many many important ░░░░░░░░ that have been made ░░░░░░░░ and the many people ░░░░░░░░ have passed through these ░░░░░░░░ it s a bit ░░░░░░░░ for us to be ░░░░░░░░ today The governor the ░░░░░░░░ and First Lady and ░░░░░░░░ and I had an ░░░░░░░░ lunch I think we ░░░░░░░░ actually thank the kitchen ░░░░░░░░ too they were amazing ░░░░░░░░ chef and everyone who ░░░░░░░░ it But it also ░░░░░░░░ us a chance to ░░░░░░░░ about our our transition ░░░░░░░░ I just want to ░░░░░░░░ you for the incredibly ░░░░░░░░ way that you ve ░░░░░░░░ course expressed you re ░░░░░░░░ to help us It ░░░░░░░░ important We ve got ░░░░░░░░ lot of work to ░░░░░░░░ day one is going ░░░░░░░░ come fast and on ░░░░░░░░ one we need to ░░░░░░░░ to work And so ░░░░░░░░ just so appreciate your ░░░░░░░░ to be so so ░░░░░░░░ as we head towards ░░░░░░░░ next stage in Virginia ░░░░░░░░ future And then finally ░░░░░░░░ I do so appreciate ░░░░░░░░ welcoming of the of ░░░░░░░░ press team here we ░░░░░░░░ going to continue to ░░░░░░░░ incredibly open and accessible ░░░░░░░░ I think one of ░░░░░░░░ things that has excited ░░░░░░░░ most during this campaign ░░░░░░░░ also as we head ░░░░░░░░ is just the open ░░░░░░░░ that we have and ░░░░░░░░ re gonna have a ░░░░░░░░ to talk about because ░░░░░░░░ re gonna be moving ░░░░░░░░ with the real pace ░░░░░░░░ I appreciate everybody being ░░░░░░░░ today and Suzanne and ░░░░░░░░ governor the ░░░░░░░░ said that we share ░░░░░░░░ very important moment and ░░░░░░░░ is we both married ░░░░░░░░ in a big way ░░░░░░░░ the good thing is ░░░░░░░░ we both acknowledge it ░░░░░░░░
