NYT’s Leonhardt: There Shouldn’t Be a Problem If the Punishment for Being Unvaxxed Is Not Having a Job

STELTER We don t ░░░░░░░░ on when dog bites ░░░░░░░░ when the normal thing ░░░░░░░░ when most people go ░░░░░░░░ and get vaccinated and ░░░░░░░░ boosters Are you seeing ░░░░░░░░ problem exists in Covid ░░░░░░░░ LEONHARDT I do And ░░░░░░░░ think I would say ░░░░░░░░ would say if you ░░░░░░░░ not a member of ░░░░░░░░ media I think it ░░░░░░░░ important to keep in ░░░░░░░░ that we in the ░░░░░░░░ have a real bad ░░░░░░░░ bias And some of ░░░░░░░░ is healthy We re ░░░░░░░░ constantly with spokespeople from ░░░░░░░░ and politicians and athletes ░░░░░░░░ are trying to tell ░░░░░░░░ how everything is wonderful ░░░░░░░░ perfect and so you ░░░░░░░░ want us to have ░░░░░░░░ certain skepticism but we ░░░░░░░░ go too far And ░░░░░░░░ what that means is ░░░░░░░░ good news when cases ░░░░░░░░ declining or the vaccines ░░░░░░░░ working tends to not ░░░░░░░░ very much attention and ░░░░░░░░ news receives enormous attention ░░░░░░░░ so when you re ░░░░░░░░ to Covid news just ░░░░░░░░ that it s coming ░░░░░░░░ this filter that we ░░░░░░░░ the media often have ░░░░░░░░ bad news bias And ░░░░░░░░ dog bites man man ░░░░░░░░ dog the vaccine mandates ░░░░░░░░ actually been amazingly successful ░░░░░░░░ ve led a lot ░░░░░░░░ people no get vaccinated ░░░░░░░░ have not previously gotten ░░░░░░░░ Not that many people ░░░░░░░░ decided to quit or ░░░░░░░░ fired because of it ░░░░░░░░ of course we tend ░░░░░░░░ hear more about the ░░░░░░░░ They re realm they ░░░░░░░░ some attention but just ░░░░░░░░ they are outliers STELTER ░░░░░░░░ speaking of outliers Dan ░░░░░░░░ a popular radio host ░░░░░░░░ out there saying he ░░░░░░░░ quit his radio show ░░░░░░░░ hasn t agreed with ░░░░░░░░ having a vaccine mandate ░░░░░░░░ though he s vaccinated ░░░░░░░░ wants to stand up ░░░░░░░░ the staffers who don ░░░░░░░░ want to get the ░░░░░░░░ And then there s ░░░░░░░░ amazing story out of ░░░░░░░░ Ice Cube quitting a ░░░░░░░░ apparently because he declined ░░░░░░░░ Covid vaccine THR says ░░░░░░░░ s given up 9 ░░░░░░░░ he s giving up ░░░░░░░░ 9 million payday because ░░░░░░░░ doesn t want to ░░░░░░░░ vaccinated So these outliers ░░░░░░░░ stories they re interesting ░░░░░░░░ they re shocking like ░░░░░░░░ re like who would ░░░░░░░░ up 9 million you ░░░░░░░░ not to get vaccinated ░░░░░░░░ then these stories exist ░░░░░░░░ they do merit some ░░░░░░░░ LEONHARDT They do I ░░░░░░░░ thing I would say ░░░░░░░░ when people quit or ░░░░░░░░ fired because they won ░░░░░░░░ take the vaccine I ░░░░░░░░ think of that there ░░░░░░░░ some really good news ░░░░░░░░ I mean it is ░░░░░░░░ legal right to not ░░░░░░░░ the vaccine We live ░░░░░░░░ a country that prioritizes ░░░░░░░░ freedom But if you ░░░░░░░░ to take the vaccine ░░░░░░░░ re putting a lot ░░░░░░░░ people s parents and ░░░░░░░░ including some who are ░░░░░░░░ people who are immunocompromised ░░░░░░░░ are putting those people ░░░░░░░░ risk of serious illness ░░░░░░░░ even death And so ░░░░░░░░ the punishment that you ░░░░░░░░ to take for potentially ░░░░░░░░ others is you can ░░░░░░░░ have the job you ░░░░░░░░ I don t have ░░░░░░░░ problem with that You ░░░░░░░░ choosing to put others ░░░░░░░░ risk people who can ░░░░░░░░ protect themselves and that ░░░░░░░░ I don t have ░░░░░░░░ lot of sympathy for ░░░░░░░░ you have to forfeit ░░░░░░░░ That s a very ░░░░░░░░ frame the one than ░░░░░░░░ one Dan Bongino is ░░░░░░░░ on what he s ░░░░░░░░ so I hope his ░░░░░░░░ his listeners hear it ░░░░░░░░ thank you so much ░░░░░░░░ Thanks, Brian.”
