    HILL On this Labor ░░░░░░░░ millions of jobless Americans ░░░░░░░░ losing all of their ░░░░░░░░ benefits as federal pandemic ░░░░░░░░ expires CNN s Alison ░░░░░░░░ joining us now So ░░░░░░░░ for months this money ░░░░░░░░ know has kept a ░░░░░░░░ of families afloat food ░░░░░░░░ the table in many ░░░░░░░░ during the pandemic Give ░░░░░░░░ a sense of the ░░░░░░░░ the number of people ░░░░░░░░ with this end in ░░░░░░░░ KOSIK Erica this is ░░░░░░░░ about 11 million American ░░░░░░░░ break that down that ░░░░░░░░ out to about 8 ░░░░░░░░ who are losing all ░░░░░░░░ their unemployment benefits today ░░░░░░░░ another 2 7 million ░░░░░░░░ who are losing the ░░░░░░░░ weekly federal subsidy In ░░░░░░░░ the government spent about ░░░░░░░░ billion in unemployment assistance ░░░░░░░░ never was meant to ░░░░░░░░ forever It was really ░░░░░░░░ meant as a short ░░░░░░░░ fix to prop up ░░░░░░░░ economy to prop up ░░░░░░░░ And you know looking ░░░░░░░░ when all of this ░░░░░░░░ instituted it really was ░░░░░░░░ much needed lifeline for ░░░░░░░░ of households who were ░░░░░░░░ to pay bills and ░░░░░░░░ gut wrenching worry about ░░░░░░░░ their financial future would ░░░░░░░░ like Well now all ░░░░░░░░ it is coming to ░░░░░░░░ end even though the ░░░░░░░░ continues and Americans continue ░░░░░░░░ struggle But it begs ░░░░░░░░ question will we see ░░░░░░░░ flood into the labor ░░░░░░░░ as these benefits end ░░░░░░░░ s a question that ░░░░░░░░ became quite political We ░░░░░░░░ see critics say look ░░░░░░░░ lot of people are ░░░░░░░░ to stay out of ░░░░░░░░ because they re getting ░░░░░░░░ money from the government ░░░░░░░░ data from the Labor ░░░░░░░░ actually showed that from ░░░░░░░░ the summer when some ░░░░░░░░ cut back on their ░░░░░░░░ we didn t see ░░░░░░░░ much of a difference ░░░░░░░░ job growth between the ░░░░░░░░ that did pull off ░░░░░░░░ and those that kept ░░░░░░░░ benefits on So you ░░░░░░░░ seeing some holes poked ░░░░░░░░ that argument and it ░░░░░░░░ is shining light on ░░░░░░░░ of maybe the real ░░░░░░░░ why we re seeing ░░░░░░░░ labor market the way ░░░░░░░░ is For one many ░░░░░░░░ are finding it hard ░░░░░░░░ go back to the ░░░░░░░░ that they had before ░░░░░░░░ pandemic For one they ░░░░░░░░ not have their job ░░░░░░░░ their job may not ░░░░░░░░ They may not live ░░░░░░░░ the same state in ░░░░░░░░ they had their job ░░░░░░░░ they had to move ░░░░░░░░ may be childcare issues ░░░░░░░░ a lot of women ░░░░░░░░ are still finding it ░░░░░░░░ hard to find childcare ░░░░░░░░ of course as the ░░░░░░░░ variant continues to rage ░░░░░░░░ s concern about everybody ░░░░░░░░ health So despite the ░░░░░░░░ that there are 10 ░░░░░░░░ million jobs open and ░░░░░░░░ may want to get ░░░░░░░░ to work there are ░░░░░░░░ lot of things going ░░░░░░░░ in the background that ░░░░░░░░ be preventing people from ░░░░░░░░ back into the labor ░░░░░░░░ Erica.”
