the author of ░░░░░░░░ forthcoming book What do ░░░░░░░░ Americans oh black people ░░░░░░░░ justice in the age ░░░░░░░░ posts oppression so professor ░░░░░░░░ there are a few ░░░░░░░░ that you said that ░░░░░░░░ find interesting and a ░░░░░░░░ things that you ve ░░░░░░░░ here in your piece ░░░░░░░░ I d like you ░░░░░░░░ explain a little bit ░░░░░░░░ so you be you ░░░░░░░░ about your research driving ░░░░░░░░ But when you write ░░░░░░░░ this you talk about ░░░░░░░░ from an anecdote from ░░░░░░░░ friend a liberal friend ░░░░░░░░ set it on a ░░░░░░░░ grade class and found ░░░░░░░░ son They re white ░░░░░░░░ being told that they ░░░░░░░░ responsible for American racism ░░░░░░░░ think part of the ░░░░░░░░ for many of us ░░░░░░░░ that all of these ░░░░░░░░ about these sort of ░░░░░░░░ teachers teaching these bizarre ░░░░░░░░ of racial discourse there ░░░░░░░░ anecdotes they re always ░░░░░░░░ s never like a ░░░░░░░░ It s never a ░░░░░░░░ that we name it ░░░░░░░░ never a program that ░░░░░░░░ can identify It seems ░░░░░░░░ me that in many ░░░░░░░░ this is like a ░░░░░░░░ in search of a ░░░░░░░░ that we keep pretending ░░░░░░░░ there is this moral ░░░░░░░░ around Critical Race Theory ░░░░░░░░ s infiltrating the nation ░░░░░░░░ did it eight years ░░░░░░░░ with liberation theology they ░░░░░░░░ t my god The ░░░░░░░░ is there being filled ░░░░░░░░ marx is thinkers Were ░░░░░░░░ to make a bunch ░░░░░░░░ Jeremiah Wright and it ░░░░░░░░ to me that this ░░░░░░░░ every these more panics ░░░░░░░░ whenever there s an ░░░░░░░░ coming up and My ░░░░░░░░ about the way you ░░░░░░░░ thinking about this is ░░░░░░░░ again instead of using ░░░░░░░░ research instead of giving ░░░░░░░░ hard court cases we ░░░░░░░░ up with a lot ░░░░░░░░ inflammatory language you call ░░░░░░░░ race their amaro eugenics ░░░░░░░░ you talk about a ░░░░░░░░ solution I mean you ░░░░░░░░ invoking the language of ░░░░░░░░ in the language of ░░░░░░░░ worst forms of evil ░░░░░░░░ Jewish people and it ░░░░░░░░ to me that it ░░░░░░░░ invites a kind of ░░░░░░░░ that does nothing to ░░░░░░░░ our country better Does ░░░░░░░░ to have an honest ░░░░░░░░ about race what do ░░░░░░░░ say Well I have ░░░░░░░░ written about three articles ░░░░░░░░ in which actually named ░░░░░░░░ school districts and Seattle ░░░░░░░░ But Seattle public school ░░░░░░░░ and identified the districts ░░░░░░░░ Ohio and And in ░░░░░░░░ article was quite cumbersome ░░░░░░░░ course it was for ░░░░░░░░ large audience On dh ░░░░░░░░ what I wanted to ░░░░░░░░ do given the fact ░░░░░░░░ the article of doesn ░░░░░░░░ permit footnotes it s ░░░░░░░░ sort of a distillation ░░░░░░░░ what had red and ░░░░░░░░ course it s it ░░░░░░░░ a broad interpretation of ░░░░░░░░ That I m exercising ░░░░░░░░ by using that kind ░░░░░░░░ language that they use ░░░░░░░░ reading a broad swath ░░░░░░░░ literature and and and ░░░░░░░░ talking to teachers and ░░░░░░░░ with neighborhood teacher this ░░░░░░░░ associations making that kind ░░░░░░░░ interpretation a ll judgment ░░░░░░░░ I made so I ░░░░░░░░ why people would be ░░░░░░░░ just offended but actually ░░░░░░░░ put off by the ░░░░░░░░ and I will use ░░░░░░░░ term is terrible isn ░░░░░░░░ send your I know ░░░░░░░░ I write pieces that ░░░░░░░░ very measured and very ░░░░░░░░ m a scholar I ░░░░░░░░ written academic three academic ░░░░░░░░ and hundreds of scores ░░░░░░░░ pure reviewed articles I ░░░░░░░░ how to write in ░░░░░░░░ measured tone but I ░░░░░░░░ a different I wanted ░░░░░░░░ to be a wake ░░░░░░░░ call in the sense ░░░░░░░░ I wanted people to ░░░░░░░░ that there are activists ░░░░░░░░ all Critical Race Theory ░░░░░░░░ advocates are our activists ░░░░░░░░ there are a subset ░░░░░░░░ activists that operating in ░░░░░░░░ school system that are ░░░░░░░░ from their lane that ░░░░░░░░ rather teaching Critical Race ░░░░░░░░ in its pure theoretical ░░░░░░░░ which questions in enlightenment ░░░░░░░░ that questions the mutual ░░░░░░░░ of constitutional law The ░░░░░░░░ foundations of the liberal ░░░░░░░░ um these are things ░░░░░░░░ are open for for ░░░░░░░░ question they should be ░░░░░░░░ right whether way We ░░░░░░░░ that the liberal order ░░░░░░░░ the best or two ░░░░░░░░ race TV uh poses ░░░░░░░░ against Meta narratives all ░░░░░░░░ sorts of things that ░░░░░░░░ was teaching this is ░░░░░░░░ happening it s being ░░░░░░░░ as this kind of ░░░░░░░░ sealed ideologically pure doctrine ░░░░░░░░ has in premature off ░░░░░░░░ infallibility stamped on it ░░░░░░░░ I wanted to just ░░░░░░░░ ahead that s where ░░░░░░░░ s where I guess ░░░░░░░░ differing here and I ░░░░░░░░ that you unlike almost ░░░░░░░░ other person who s ░░░░░░░░ a sort of critique ░░░░░░░░ posture towards the two ░░░░░░░░ saying look there s ░░░░░░░░ wrong Critical Race Theory ░░░░░░░░ not the monster It ░░░░░░░░ not the boogeyman that ░░░░░░░░ right is making it ░░░░░░░░ to be your beginning ░░░░░░░░ that place and I ░░░░░░░░ the Christopher roof foes ░░░░░░░░ the world I hope ░░░░░░░░ James Lindsay s of ░░░░░░░░ world are hearing you ░░░░░░░░ that that hey this ░░░░░░░░ not what you got ░░░░░░░░ all are thinking it ░░░░░░░░ but then you re ░░░░░░░░ it seems to me ░░░░░░░░ fall into the trap ░░░░░░░░ you then take These ░░░░░░░░ cases or these particular ░░░░░░░░ and you talk about ░░░░░░░░ in Ohio But those ░░░░░░░░ aren t doing morrow ░░░░░░░░ they are doing racial ░░░░░░░░ trains run race They ░░░░░░░░ doing curricular interventions but ░░░░░░░░ s not nearly the ░░░░░░░░ of stuff you re ░░░░░░░░ about they re demanding ░░░░░░░░ They re not talking ░░░░░░░░ a violation of individual ░░░░░░░░ You talk about They ░░░░░░░░ not coming up with ░░░░░░░░ sign a final salute ░░░░░░░░ re doing any of ░░░░░░░░ but you re allowing ░░░░░░░░ that stuff to be ░░░░░░░░ Critical Race Theory when ░░░░░░░░ as an expert professor ░░░░░░░░ this thing know that ░░░░░░░░ s not Critical Race ░░░░░░░░ and the people teaching ░░░░░░░░ also not calling it ░░░░░░░░ race there it s ░░░░░░░░ like the person in ░░░░░░░░ class Is saying hey ░░░░░░░░ sixth graders we re ░░░░░░░░ have a Critical Race ░░░░░░░░ class They re just ░░░░░░░░ about race in a ░░░░░░░░ that people don t ░░░░░░░░ and they re saying ░░░░░░░░ know what Let s ░░░░░░░░ call it our Critical ░░░░░░░░ Theory and then throw ░░░░░░░░ all away and because ░░░░░░░░ know it s not ░░░░░░░░ Race Theory instead of ░░░░░░░░ framing it these air ░░░░░░░░ heretics that these people ░░░░░░░░ are deviating from what ░░░░░░░░ Race Theory should be ░░░░░░░░ not just saying they ░░░░░░░░ talking about race in ░░░░░░░░ we don t like ░░░░░░░░ you and I want ░░░░░░░░ to respond to this ░░░░░░░░ my concern sir is ░░░░░░░░ when you do it ░░░░░░░░ way it gives these ░░░░░░░░ license about these people ░░░░░░░░ mean the opponents of ░░░░░░░░ t it gives these ░░░░░░░░ license to Avoid race ░░░░░░░░ altogether and unlike you ░░░░░░░░ don t just want ░░░░░░░░ avoid critical legal status ░░░░░░░░ critical race there unlike ░░░░░░░░ they don t just ░░░░░░░░ to get rid of ░░░░░░░░ outliers which you would ░░░░░░░░ might not even agree ░░░░░░░░ they don t want ░░░░░░░░ talk about race and ░░░░░░░░ they want to pretend ░░░░░░░░ America doesn t have ░░░░░░░░ and white supremacist I ░░░░░░░░ t want to talk ░░░░░░░░ the legacy of slavery ░░░░░░░░ don t want to ░░░░░░░░ about any of this ░░░░░░░░ so why not just ░░░░░░░░ the specific critique Instead ░░░░░░░░ buying in and even ░░░░░░░░ gasoline on the moral ░░░░░░░░ when you know better ░░░░░░░░ mark I think respectfully ░░░░░░░░ think we re going ░░░░░░░░ have a couple of ░░░░░░░░ disagreements here one is ░░░░░░░░ don t think that ░░░░░░░░ a our cases I ░░░░░░░░ these are cases that ░░░░░░░░ becoming They re not ░░░░░░░░ in all the school ░░░░░░░░ but they re becoming ░░░░░░░░ pervasive And r k ░░░░░░░░ 11 system school system ░░░░░░░░ I don t think ░░░░░░░░ re out Liar cases ░░░░░░░░ all And I wanted ░░░░░░░░ make it I want ░░░░░░░░ make a distinction here ░░░░░░░░ the show that they ░░░░░░░░ you know they re ░░░░░░░░ we call first wave ░░░░░░░░ risk there s that ░░░░░░░░ people like dell and ░░░░░░░░ Well so it is more bent on ░░░░░░░░ kind of freewheeling activism ░░░░░░░░ s that s that ░░░░░░░░ that s the brunt ░░░░░░░░ people are the brunt ░░░░░░░░ whom are my article ░░░░░░░░ aimed at those radical ░░░░░░░░ that are not just ░░░░░░░░ Critical Race Theory has ░░░░░░░░ has an academic exercise ░░░░░░░░ reasoning about of particular ░░░░░░░░ about how race has ░░░░░░░░ constructed in this in ░░░░░░░░ country for example I ░░░░░░░░ think that one of ░░░░░░░░ things that Critical Race ░░░░░░░░ gets right is that ░░░░░░░░ is a social construct ░░░░░░░░ has been created to ░░░░░░░░ white supremacy in white ░░░░░░░░ that is there are ░░░░░░░░ biological anthropologist that would ░░░░░░░░ race is a biological ░░░░░░░░ Um so that aspects ░░░░░░░░ critical race series is ░░░░░░░░ and actually should be ░░░░░░░░ that Americans should know ░░░░░░░░ there thank you for ░░░░░░░░ that at least I ░░░░░░░░ I hate to cut ░░░░░░░░ off professor but we ░░░░░░░░ out of time I ░░░░░░░░ We ve already gone ░░░░░░░░ a bit but But ░░░░░░░░ you for that thank ░░░░░░░░ for that analysis and ░░░░░░░░ hope that in the ░░░░░░░░ way that you write ░░░░░░░░ pieces you ll talk ░░░░░░░░ to the right until ░░░░░░░░
