SULLIVAN There have been ░░░░░░░░ raised about whether we ░░░░░░░░ have drawn down our ░░░░░░░░ and evacuated our Afghan ░░░░░░░░ earlier These are reasonable ░░░░░░░░ We did dramatically accelerate ░░░░░░░░ SIV process and move ░░░░░░░░ a substantial number of ░░░░░░░░ applicants and their families ░░░░░░░░ the Afghan government and ░░░░░░░░ supporters including many of ░░░░░░░░ people now seeking to ░░░░░░░░ made a passionate case ░░░░░░░░ we should not conduct ░░░░░░░░ massive evacuation lest we ░░░░░░░░ a loss of confidence ░░░░░░░░ the government Now our ░░░░░░░░ support for the government ░░░░░░░░ did not save the ░░░░░░░░ but this was a ░░░░░░░░ judgment When you conclude ░░░░░░░░ years of military action ░░░░░░░░ a Civil War in ░░░░░░░░ country with the impacts ░░░░░░░░ 20 years of decisions ░░░░░░░░ have piled up you ░░░░░░░░ to make a lot ░░░░░░░░ hard calls none with ░░░░░░░░ outcomes What you can ░░░░░░░░ is plan for all ░░░░░░░░ We did that The ░░░░░░░░ forces now on the ░░░░░░░░ HKIA are there because ░░░░░░░░ contingency planning and drilling ░░░░░░░░ did over the course ░░░░░░░░ months preparing for a ░░░░░░░░ of scenarios including dire ░░░░░░░░ President Biden ordered multiple ░░░░░░░░ to be pre positioned ░░░░░░░░ theater and he activated ░░░░░░░░ for deployment before the ░░░░░░░░ of Kabul He also ░░░░░░░░ additional battalions on a ░░░░░░░░ string here in the ░░░░░░░░ States Those battalions have ░░░░░░░░ flowed in as well ░░░░░░░░ there were chaotic scenes ░░░░░░░░ but as Admiral Kirby ░░░░░░░░ even well drawn plans ░░░░░░░░ t survive first contact ░░░░░░░░ reality and they require ░░░░░░░░ We ve made those ░░░░░░░░ We will stay in ░░░░░░░░ touch with our allies ░░░░░░░░ partners in the days ░░░░░░░░ as we contend with ░░░░░░░░ immediate need to complete ░░░░░░░░ evacuation mission and as ░░░░░░░░ deal with the broader ░░░░░░░░ posed by the new ░░░░░░░░ in Afghanistan And we ░░░░░░░░ remain persistently vigilant against ░░░░░░░░ terrorism threat in Afghanistan ░░░░░░░░ in multiple other theaters ░░░░░░░░ multiple continents We have ░░░░░░░░ in other places that ░░░░░░░░ can suppress terrorism without ░░░░░░░░ permanent military presence on ░░░░░░░░ ground and we intend ░░░░░░░░ do exactly that in ░░░░░░░░ With that I would ░░░░░░░░ happy to take your ░░░░░░░░
