WALLACE Joining our conversation ░░░░░░░░ Secretary of Transportation Pete ░░░░░░░░ Mr Secretary I wonder ░░░░░░░░ you can tell us ░░░░░░░░ the proposed infrastructure bill ░░░░░░░░ protect would have protected ░░░░░░░░ pipeline from a cyber ░░░░░░░░ and whether that is ░░░░░░░░ to all those things ░░░░░░░░ I know some of ░░░░░░░░ conservatives make fun of ░░░░░░░░ that aren t actually ░░░░░░░░ roads and bridges Buttigieg ░░░░░░░░ I mean this is ░░░░░░░░ more reminder that infrastructure ░░░░░░░░ the U S means ░░░░░░░░ lot more than roads ░░░░░░░░ bridges although I would ░░░░░░░░ everybody that the American ░░░░░░░░ Plan has a huge ░░░░░░░░ of resources to improve ░░░░░░░░ and bridges in this ░░░░░░░░ among many other things ░░░░░░░░ the truth is that ░░░░░░░░ excellent modern infrastructure has ░░░░░░░░ been a national security ░░░░░░░░ and we are less ░░░░░░░░ and secure any time ░░░░░░░░ we allow our infrastructure ░░░░░░░░ degrade or to be ░░░░░░░░ the times That s ░░░░░░░░ when we think about ░░░░░░░░ and bridges obviously It ░░░░░░░░ a safety issue if ░░░░░░░░ re not in good ░░░░░░░░ But it s also ░░░░░░░░ as we re confronting ░░░░░░░░ of the future ranging ░░░░░░░░ climate security to cybersecurity ░░░░░░░░ s one of the ░░░░░░░░ why there is such ░░░░░░░░ robust amount of funding ░░░░░░░░ resilience built into the ░░░░░░░░ s American Jobs Plan ░░░░░░░░ awareness that we need ░░░░░░░░ be preparing and building ░░░░░░░░ the future It s ░░░░░░░░ why there s a ░░░░░░░░ on R D and ░░░░░░░░ The truth is that ░░░░░░░░ need to spend and ░░░░░░░░ for national security reasons ░░░░░░░░ making sure that we ░░░░░░░░ the greatest and best ░░░░░░░░ Remember the internet itself ░░░░░░░░ invented through a federal ░░░░░░░░ that was connected to ░░░░░░░░ Department of Defense out ░░░░░░░░ an understanding that part ░░░░░░░░ what makes America secure ░░░░░░░░ being a step ahead ░░░░░░░░ the rest of the ░░░░░░░░ when it comes to ░░░░░░░░ and innovation We should ░░░░░░░░ doing the same thing ░░░░░░░░ the generation that s ░░░░░░░░ in charge and the ░░░░░░░░ to come and that ░░░░░░░░ all part of the ░░░░░░░░ plan.”
