Kinzinger: GOP Has to Stop ‘Trying to Appeal More to the Proud Boys than Suburban Moms’

Tur Congressman thanks so ░░░░░░░░ for joining us today ░░░░░░░░ the top of the ░░░░░░░░ we played a sound ░░░░░░░░ from you over the ░░░░░░░░ talking about how you ░░░░░░░░ getting certified letters from ░░░░░░░░ and family saying that ░░░░░░░░ ve been possessed by ░░░░░░░░ devil I mean that ░░░░░░░░ got to hurt in ░░░░░░░░ personal way There s ░░░░░░░░ a number of your ░░░░░░░░ mostly Democrats saying and ░░░░░░░░ Republicans saying that they ░░░░░░░░ been receiving death threats ░░░░░░░░ feel like their lives ░░░░░░░░ in danger from those ░░░░░░░░ vehemently support Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ think that the election ░░░░░░░░ stolen Are you getting ░░░░░░░░ same amount of vitriol ░░░░░░░░ that way as well ░░░░░░░░ inaudible And it s ░░░░░░░░ to tell you know ░░░░░░░░ that do the majority ░░░░░░░░ people feel that way ░░░░░░░░ t they Because again ░░░░░░░░ know if somebody s ░░░░░░░░ with you or agrees ░░░░░░░░ re not really seeking ░░░░░░░░ to send those kinds ░░░░░░░░ messages but all that ░░░░░░░░ to me is it ░░░░░░░░ doubles down the importance ░░░░░░░░ the mission of kind ░░░░░░░░ restoring people s faith ░░░░░░░░ the institution of government ░░░░░░░░ being optimistic about the ░░░░░░░░ of the country because ░░░░░░░░ have peddled for too ░░░░░░░░ in just darkness and ░░░░░░░░ and it s just ░░░░░░░░ an untenable situation like ░░░░░░░░ ve all seen Tur ░░░░░░░░ ve said that Republicans ░░░░░░░░ in need of an ░░░░░░░░ What exactly do you ░░░░░░░░ by that KINZINGER Well ░░░░░░░░ mean look at it ░░░░░░░░ just have to look ░░░░░░░░ where the Republican Party ░░░░░░░░ come from The party ░░░░░░░░ freed the slaves the ░░░░░░░░ that fought for women ░░░░░░░░ suffrage the party that ░░░░░░░░ down communism and had ░░░░░░░░ a clear eyed view ░░░░░░░░ the future of the ░░░░░░░░ and what conservatism can ░░░░░░░░ about giving opportunity to ░░░░░░░░ kid born in the ░░░░░░░░ city same as a ░░░░░░░░ born in the suburbs ░░░░░░░░ problem is lately all ░░░░░░░░ ve been talking about ░░░░░░░░ darkness and division and ░░░░░░░░ know trying to appeal ░░░░░░░░ to the Proud Boys ░░░░░░░░ to the suburban moms ░░░░░░░░ that s a big ░░░░░░░░ not just because of ░░░░░░░░ health of the party ░░░░░░░░ health of the party ░░░░░░░░ my mind is secondary ░░░░░░░░ the health of the ░░░░░░░░ because the health of ░░░░░░░░ country has suffered We ░░░░░░░░ two solid functional parties ░░░░░░░░ have real debates Tur ░░░░░░░░ are using your money ░░░░░░░░ help solve this problem ░░░░░░░░ at least trying to ░░░░░░░░ me about this new ░░░░░░░░ that you re launching ░░░░░░░░ Yeah so on country1st ░░░░░░░░ with a 1 I ░░░░░░░░ a video yesterday and ░░░░░░░░ really started out as ░░░░░░░░ wanting to get the ░░░░░░░░ out there which says ░░░░░░░░ know really to my ░░░░░░░░ Republicans look where we ░░░░░░░░ come from in a ░░░░░░░░ way but look where ░░░░░░░░ ve been and here ░░░░░░░░ an optimistic view of ░░░░░░░░ future The outpouring the ░░░░░░░░ has been pretty incredible ░░░░░░░░ that have you know ░░░░░░░░ disaffected from Republicanism some ░░░░░░░░ that say we need ░░░░░░░░ help the Republican Party ░░░░░░░░ I think a lot ░░░░░░░░ people that are sitting ░░░░░░░░ on the edge going ░░░░░░░░ I m thinking about ░░░░░░░░ I don t have ░░░░░░░░ home to go to ░░░░░░░░ it s presenting that ░░░░░░░░ to say we re ░░░░░░░░ GOP that s not ░░░░░░░░ Trump first it s ░░░░░░░░ country first Real basic ░░░░░░░░ but it s been ░░░░░░░░ in the kind of ░░░░░░░░ malaise of the last ░░░░░░░░ years Tur How confident ░░░░░░░░ you of that Because ░░░░░░░░ colleagues are all running ░░░░░░░░ running towards Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ mean there was a ░░░░░░░░ where there was some ░░░░░░░░ I mean Kevin McCarthy ░░░░░░░░ on the House floor ░░░░░░░░ said that Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ some responsibility for what ░░░░░░░░ on January 6th You ░░░░░░░░ Lindsey Graham saying that ░░░░░░░░ is enough he s ░░░░░░░░ he s out and ░░░░░░░░ he was on a ░░░░░░░░ with Donald Trump two ░░░░░░░░ later So it feels ░░░░░░░░ the majority of the ░░░░░░░░ is still firmly on ░░░░░░░░ side of Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ this is this going ░░░░░░░░ mean a split within ░░░░░░░░ Republican Party there will ░░░░░░░░ like a Trump Party ░░░░░░░░ MAGA Party Patriot Party ░░░░░░░░ he wants to call ░░░░░░░░ and then what was ░░░░░░░░ of the Republican Party ░░░░░░░░ You know I hope ░░░░░░░░ doesn t mean a ░░░░░░░░ but it may And ░░░░░░░░ after January 6th that ░░░░░░░░ kind of the impetus ░░░░░░░░ me to launch Country ░░░░░░░░ is looking at the ░░░░░░░░ that on the 7th ░░░░░░░░ were wide eyed and ░░░░░░░░ about what happened Donald ░░░░░░░░ stirred not just on ░░░░░░░░ speech but through the ░░░░░░░░ few months particularly and ░░░░░░░░ years the foundation of ░░░░░░░░ which led to the ░░░░░░░░ We talk about our ░░░░░░░░ for law enforcement you ░░░░░░░░ 1 500 law enforcement ░░░░░░░░ literal hand to hand ░░░░░░░░ with Trump supporters getting ░░░░░░░░ and all that kind ░░░░░░░░ stuff And we saw ░░░░░░░░ wake up but then ░░░░░░░░ of trending back to ░░░░░░░░ we need Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ win again And look ░░░░░░░░ bottom line is this ░░░░░░░░ an election is important ░░░░░░░░ it s secondary to ░░░░░░░░ this country and if ░░░░░░░░ has to take an ░░░░░░░░ battle within the GOP ░░░░░░░░ that s what it ░░░░░░░░ going to have to ░░░░░░░░ because a party a ░░░░░░░░ Party under Trump first ░░░░░░░░ is just not going ░░░░░░░░ work Tur Kevin McCarthy ░░░░░░░░ meeting with Marjorie Taylor ░░░░░░░░ Kevin McCarthy as we ░░░░░░░░ at the top met ░░░░░░░░ Donald Trump Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ Marjorie Taylor Greene and ░░░░░░░░ support for her Do ░░░░░░░░ have any expectation that ░░░░░░░░ s going to I ░░░░░░░░ t know take her ░░░░░░░░ the Education Committee at ░░░░░░░░ very least or tell ░░░░░░░░ I mean what could ░░░░░░░░ possibly tell her KINZINGER ░░░░░░░░ it s kind of ░░░░░░░░ weird moment we re ░░░░░░░░ He can take her ░░░░░░░░ the committee and I ░░░░░░░░ he should I think ░░░░░░░░ should be prevented from ░░░░░░░░ with us even though ░░░░░░░░ can t stop her ░░░░░░░░ calling herself a Republican ░░░░░░░░ we re in this ░░░░░░░░ where somebody like Marjorie ░░░░░░░░ Greene who says crazy ░░░░░░░░ whether she believes it ░░░░░░░░ not I don t ░░░░░░░░ but she becomes instantly ░░░░░░░░ That s all she ░░░░░░░░ She wants to be ░░░░░░░░ and raise money off ░░░░░░░░ She s probably raised ░░░░░░░░ ton and everybody knows ░░░░░░░░ name And that s ░░░░░░░░ the kind of brokenness ░░░░░░░░ politics lately as you ░░░░░░░░ these people that want ░░░░░░░░ just go out and ░░░░░░░░ famous and they don ░░░░░░░░ care about or understand ░░░░░░░░ damage that they re ░░░░░░░░ to the democracy And ░░░░░░░░ s time for people ░░░░░░░░ have a place to ░░░░░░░░ which is why I ░░░░░░░░ the Country First at ░░░░░░░░ com It s just ░░░░░░░░ you know there s ░░░░░░░░ many people that said ░░░░░░░░ don t know what ░░░░░░░░ do and I don ░░░░░░░░ know where
