Joni Ernst: Like the Chuck Norris Joke, ‘The Covid Is Afraid of Chuck Grassley’

ERNST First I want ░░░░░░░░ welcome back my Senior ░░░░░░░░ Chuck Grassley to the ░░░░░░░░ States Senate and our ░░░░░░░░ schedule Whether Chuck is ░░░░░░░░ from his Iowa farm ░░░░░░░░ he s working from ░░░░░░░░ office here in the ░░░░░░░░ States Senate or whether ░░░░░░░░ s teleworking because of ░░░░░░░░ virus Chuck Grassley works ░░░░░░░░ is always working Many ░░░░░░░░ you have probably heard ░░░░░░░░ Chuck Norris jokes out ░░░░░░░░ You know the dark ░░░░░░░░ afraid of Chuck Norris ░░░░░░░░ we have our own ░░░░░░░░ Grassley jokes too And ░░░░░░░░ now the Covid is ░░░░░░░░ of Chuck Grassley So ░░░░░░░░ are just very thankful ░░░░░░░░ have him back and ░░░░░░░░ good health and continually ░░░░░░░░ for Iowans He is ░░░░░░░░ such a tremendous asset ░░░░░░░░ our great state of ░░░░░░░░ and we wish him ░░░░░░░░ health As we are ░░░░░░░░ the end of our ░░░░░░░░ session we do have ░░░░░░░░ number of things that ░░░░░░░░ to be done And ░░░░░░░░ just want to address ░░░░░░░░ of those that some ░░░░░░░░ my colleagues have already ░░░░░░░░ One is making sure ░░░░░░░░ we have a Coronavirus ░░░░░░░░ that is done Just ░░░░░░░░ today our Governor of ░░░░░░░░ great state of Iowa ░░░░░░░░ Reynolds did state that ░░░░░░░░ needs to come together ░░░░░░░░ get a bill done ░░░░░░░░ have people across the ░░░░░░░░ of Iowa and across ░░░░░░░░ nation that are hurting ░░░░░░░░ want to keep a ░░░░░░░░ economy We want to ░░░░░░░░ our citizens safe and ░░░░░░░░ And then finally we ░░░░░░░░ have the National Defense ░░░░░░░░ Act that is hanging ░░░░░░░░ the balance We need ░░░░░░░░ work together to ensure ░░░░░░░░ we get this completed ░░░░░░░░ have done this for ░░░░░░░░ decades now in a ░░░░░░░░ fashion we need to ░░░░░░░░ it again It includes ░░░░░░░░ lot of provisions that ░░░░░░░░ very good for our ░░░░░░░░ men and women things ░░░░░░░░ simple as body armor ░░░░░░░░ females body armor that ░░░░░░░░ to the size and ░░░░░░░░ of a female so ░░░░░░░░ Well that s included ░░░░░░░░ this National Defense Authorization ░░░░░░░░ So it is vitally ░░░░░░░░ that we are putting ░░░░░░░░ service members their safety ░░░░░░░░ and getting that over ░░░░░░░░ finish line So I ░░░░░░░░ just encouraging our Democrats ░░░░░░░░ back to the table ░░░░░░░░ s work through these ░░░░░░░░ Let s get the ░░░░░░░░ done and let s ░░░░░░░░ this Coronavirus bill done ░░░░░░░░ you YOUNG Well I ░░░░░░░░ everyone back I hope ░░░░░░░░ had a blessed Thanksgiving ░░░░░░░░ s of course December ░░░░░░░░ and we still don ░░░░░░░░ have a Coronavirus relief ░░░░░░░░ that has been passed ░░░░░░░░ into law by the ░░░░░░░░ and is providing relief ░░░░░░░░ the American people Look ░░░░░░░░ are hurting They re ░░░░░░░░ frustrated with this whole ░░░░░░░░ Republicans have put forward ░░░░░░░░ package that as the ░░░░░░░░ has emphasized can actually ░░░░░░░░ signed into law One ░░░░░░░░ provides assistance to schools ░░░░░░░░ students one that provides ░░░░░░░░ to our hard hits ░░░░░░░░ businesses one that provides ░░░░░░░░ resources for testing So ░░░░░░░░ don t we go ░░░░░░░░ and pass what we ░░░░░░░░ all agree upon what ░░░░░░░░ know can be signed ░░░░░░░░ law And then we ░░░░░░░░ debate and negotiate and ░░░░░░░░ further consideration to additional ░░░░░░░░ As it relates to ░░░░░░░░ businesses I ll tell ░░░░░░░░ Hoosier small businesses have ░░░░░░░░ absolutely hammered as have ░░░░░░░░ many others around the ░░░░░░░░ A recent NFIB survey ░░░░░░░░ that nationally 75 of ░░░░░░░░ members would either consider ░░░░░░░░ would go ahead and ░░░░░░░░ for a second round ░░░░░░░░ PPP assistance the sort ░░░░░░░░ assistance that is included ░░░░░░░░ the Senate package So ░░░░░░░░ it s PPP assistance ░░░░░░░░ inclusion of the Restart ░░░░░░░░ the legislation bicameral bipartisan ░░░░░░░░ I put together with ░░░░░░░░ Bennet of Colorado it ░░░░░░░░ has incidentally 58 co ░░░░░░░░ with the addition of ░░░░░░░░ Perdue of Georgia here ░░░░░░░░ the US Senate 180 ░░░░░░░░ the House of Representatives ░░░░░░░░ bipartisan.”
