RUSH TRANSCRIPT Most importantly ░░░░░░░░ is our purpose today ░░░░░░░░ bring comfort to you ░░░░░░░░ families who are represented ░░░░░░░░ those empty seats We ░░░░░░░░ you We will never ░░░░░░░░ you We also honor ░░░░░░░░ who came close to ░░░░░░░░ that night and who ░░░░░░░░ wounded not only in ░░░░░░░░ body but in the ░░░░░░░░ May you never be ░░░░░░░░ as well We understand ░░░░░░░░ Dallas pain is a ░░░░░░░░ pain That is why ░░░░░░░░ want to say thank ░░░░░░░░ to President Obama and ░░░░░░░░ Lady Mrs Obama vice ░░░░░░░░ Biden and Dr Biden ░░░░░░░░ to two of our ░░░░░░░░ distinguished citizens of Dallas ░░░░░░░░ Bush and Laura bush ░░░░░░░░ coming to help us ░░░░░░░░ these wounds To wage ░░░░░░░░ battle against violence and ░░░░░░░░ today must be about ░░░░░░░░ Unity among faiths unity ░░░░░░░░ police and citizens and ░░░░░░░░ unity among politicians In ░░░░░░░░ days I ve seen ░░░░░░░░ even before that tragedy ░░░░░░░░ police and protesters mingled ░░░░░░░░ I ve seen unity ░░░░░░░░ the protesters came out ░░░░░░░░ support of the police ░░░░░░░░ the days of this ░░░░░░░░ I see unity today ░░░░░░░░ the Arlington police and ░░░░░░░░ Texas dps officers step ░░░░░░░░ to relieve our exhausted ░░░░░░░░ officers This interfaith choir ░░░░░░░░ me symbolizes that unity ░░░░░░░░ from six churches across ░░░░░░░░ city These three religious ░░░░░░░░ will pray in a ░░░░░░░░ minutes in a show ░░░░░░░░ unity I believe you ░░░░░░░░ hear words of unity ░░░░░░░░ other speakers The senior ░░░░░░░░ from Texas John Cornyn ░░░░░░░░ Bush Police chief David ░░░░░░░░ And President Obama The ░░░░░░░░ few days have been ░░░░░░░░ of the darkest in ░░░░░░░░ city s histories There ░░░░░░░░ no question about that ░░░░░░░░ we bury these men ░░░░░░░░ the coming days it ░░░░░░░░ not get easier I ░░░░░░░░ But there s nothing ░░░░░░░░ a crisis that forces ░░░░░░░░ to take pause of ░░░░░░░░ life and your city ░░░░░░░░ life And if you ░░░░░░░░ from out of town ░░░░░░░░ hope you ll forgive ░░░░░░░░ for a moment I ░░░░░░░░ to speak to my ░░░░░░░░ dallasites I have searched ░░░░░░░░ in my soul of ░░░░░░░░ to discover what mistakes ░░░░░░░░ have made I ve ░░░░░░░░ why us And in ░░░░░░░░ moments of self doubt ░░░░░░░░ discovered the truth That ░░░░░░░░ did nothing wrong In ░░░░░░░░ Dallas is very very ░░░░░░░░ Our police are among ░░░░░░░░ best in the country ░░░░░░░░ am in awe of ░░░░░░░░ Dallas police officers Applause ░░░░░░░░ set the standard where ░░░░░░░░ can both be strong ░░░░░░░░ smart where men die ░░░░░░░░ the rights that this ░░░░░░░░ was built on In ░░░░░░░░ I have never been ░░░░░░░░ proud of my city ░░░░░░░░ city While we did ░░░░░░░░ wrong there is a ░░░░░░░░ this happened here this ░░░░░░░░ too time in American ░░░░░░░░ This is our chance ░░░░░░░░ lead and build a ░░░░░░░░ model for a community ░░░░░░░░ a city for our ░░░░░░░░ To do that there ░░░░░░░░ be tough times ahead ░░░░░░░░ will mourn together and ░░░░░░░░ is the key word ░░░░░░░░ We may be sad ░░░░░░░░ we will not dwell ░░░░░░░░ self pity We may ░░░░░░░░ but we will never ░░░░░░░░ For we have too ░░░░░░░░ work to be done ░░░░░░░░ have too many bridges ░░░░░░░░ build that we will ░░░░░░░░ together This I know ░░░░░░░░ I know will happen ░░░░░░░░ you.” [ Applause ]
