“As a result it ░░░░░░░░ my view that if ░░░░░░░░ Supreme Court Justice resigns ░░░░░░░░ or within the next ░░░░░░░░ weeks or resigns at ░░░░░░░░ end of the summer ░░░░░░░░ Bush should consider following ░░░░░░░░ practice of a majority ░░░░░░░░ his predecessors and not ░░░░░░░░ not name a nominee ░░░░░░░░ after the November election ░░░░░░░░ completed The Senate too ░░░░░░░░ President must consider how ░░░░░░░░ would respond to a ░░░░░░░░ Court vacancy that would ░░░░░░░░ in the full throes ░░░░░░░░ an election year It ░░░░░░░░ my view that if ░░░░░░░░ President goes the way ░░░░░░░░ Presidents Fillmore and Johnson ░░░░░░░░ presses an election year ░░░░░░░░ the Senate Judiciary Committee ░░░░░░░░ seriously consider not scheduling ░░░░░░░░ hearings on the nomination ░░░░░░░░ after the political campaign ░░░░░░░░ is over I sadly ░░░░░░░░ Mr President that this ░░░░░░░░ going to be one ░░░░░░░░ the bitterest dirtiest Presidential ░░░░░░░░ we will have seen ░░░░░░░░ modern times I am ░░░░░░░░ Mr President after having ░░░░░░░░ these words some will ░░░░░░░░ such a decision and ░░░░░░░░ it was nothing more ░░░░░░░░ an attempt to save ░░░░░░░░ seat on the Court ░░░░░░░░ the hopes that a ░░░░░░░░ will be permitted to ░░░░░░░░ it but that would ░░░░░░░░ be our intention Mr ░░░░░░░░ if that were the ░░░░░░░░ to choose in the ░░░░░░░░ to not consider holding ░░░░░░░░ until after the election ░░░░░░░░ it would be our ░░░░░░░░ conclusion that once the ░░░░░░░░ season is under way ░░░░░░░░ it is action on ░░░░░░░░ Supreme Court nomination must ░░░░░░░░ put off until after ░░░░░░░░ election campaign is over ░░░░░░░░ is what is fair ░░░░░░░░ the nominee and is ░░░░░░░░ to the process Otherwise ░░░░░░░░ seems to me Mr ░░░░░░░░ we will be in ░░░░░░░░ trouble as an institution.”
