Michelle Obama Tells Kids that ‘Folks in Congress’ Trying to Make Their Food Unhealthy

“Now I know that ░░░░░░░░ of you might have ░░░░░░░░ who want to bring ░░░░░░░░ the junk food in ░░░░░░░░ schools right Because there ░░░░░░░░ always those kids They ░░░░░░░░ like give me my ░░░░░░░░ food back Laughter And ░░░░░░░░ know that in recent ░░░░░░░░ we ve even seen ░░░░░░░░ including folks in Congress ░░░░░░░░ to undo some of ░░░░░░░░ progress that we ve ░░░░░░░░ to get healthier food ░░░░░░░░ our schools And while ░░░░░░░░ vast majority of the ░░░░░░░░ are doing just fine ░░░░░░░░ these new standards those ░░░░░░░░ complaining voices happen to ░░░░░░░░ the loudest voices and ░░░░░░░░ re getting the most ░░░░░░░░ right now So here ░░░░░░░░ what I m going ░░░░░░░░ ask you to do ░░░░░░░░ this year I need ░░░░░░░░ guys to make your ░░░░░░░░ heard too It s ░░░░░░░░ And don t be ░░░░░░░░ I want you to ░░░░░░░░ up talk to your ░░░░░░░░ and your teachers Share ░░░░░░░░ them what you ve ░░░░░░░░ about healthy eating and ░░░░░░░░ about how to craft ░░░░░░░░ things Like Braeden you ░░░░░░░░ even get your school ░░░░░░░░ test your recipe in ░░░░░░░░ lunchroom for other kids ░░░░░░░░ them what you know ░░░░░░░░ healthy eating And also ░░░░░░░░ the parents parents play ░░░░░░░░ really important role in ░░░░░░░░ happens on the ground ░░░░░░░░ in many instances parents ░░░░░░░░ way more powerful than ░░░░░░░░ like us in the ░░░░░░░░ House So I urge ░░░░░░░░ guys to speak up ░░░░░░░░ well and to continue ░░░░░░░░ up Go to those ░░░░░░░░ meetings and those school ░░░░░░░░ meetings and tell them ░░░░░░░░ you know and what ░░░░░░░░ re learning to make ░░░░░░░░ that they re listening ░░░░░░░░ all the voices on ░░░░░░░░ issue There s a ░░░░░░░░ of money involved in ░░░░░░░░ our kids at school ░░░░░░░░ are currently spending 10 ░░░░░░░░ a year did you ░░░░░░░░ that 10 billion a ░░░░░░░░ on our school lunch ░░░░░░░░ So it s not ░░░░░░░░ that there are certain ░░░░░░░░ that are resisting change ░░░░░░░░ trying to take us ░░░░░░░░ to the old ways ░░░░░░░░ doing business because for ░░░░░░░░ there s a lot ░░░░░░░░ money is on the ░░░░░░░░ But you all have ░░░░░░░░ right to expect that ░░░░░░░░ hard earned tax dollars ░░░░░░░░ be spent on food ░░░░░░░░ meets basic nutrition standards.”
