Obama: I’m Bypassing Congress Because GOP Trying To Cut Infrastructure Spending

Hi everybody At a ░░░░░░░░ when our businesses have ░░░░░░░░ 9 2 million new ░░░░░░░░ in just over four ░░░░░░░░ and more companies are ░░░░░░░░ bringing jobs back from ░░░░░░░░ we have a choice ░░░░░░░░ make We can make ░░░░░░░░ easier for businesses to ░░░░░░░░ in America or we ░░░░░░░░ make it harder I ░░░░░░░░ to work with Congress ░░░░░░░░ create jobs and opportunity ░░░░░░░░ more Americans But where ░░░░░░░░ won t act I ░░░░░░░░ And I want to ░░░░░░░░ about three things we ░░░░░░░░ doing right now First ░░░░░░░░ re helping more businesses ░░░░░░░░ jobs to America from ░░░░░░░░ Three years ago my ░░░░░░░░ created SelectUSA a team ░░░░░░░░ people in embassies abroad ░░░░░░░░ agencies here at home ░░░░░░░░ on insourcing instead of ░░░░░░░░ Today they re helping ░░░░░░░░ Belgian company create jobs ░░░░░░░░ Oklahoma They re helping ░░░░░░░░ Canadian company create jobs ░░░░░░░░ Kansas In my State ░░░░░░░░ the Union Address I ░░░░░░░░ more businesses to do ░░░░░░░░ part And this week ░░░░░░░░ leaders from across the ░░░░░░░░ are coming here to ░░░░░░░░ White House to discuss ░░░░░░░░ investments that will create ░░░░░░░░ more jobs Second on ░░░░░░░░ I ll be heading ░░░░░░░░ Cooperstown New York home ░░░░░░░░ the Baseball Hall of ░░░░░░░░ to talk about tourism ░░░░░░░░ believe it or not ░░░░░░░░ is an export And ░░░░░░░░ we make it easier ░░░░░░░░ more foreign visitors to ░░░░░░░░ and spend money at ░░░░░░░░ s attractions and unparalleled ░░░░░░░░ parks that helps local ░░░░░░░░ and grows the economy ░░░░░░░░ everyone Finally we know ░░░░░░░░ investing in first class ░░░░░░░░ attracts first class jobs ░░░░░░░░ I want to spend ░░░░░░░░ minute on this because ░░░░░░░░ s very important this ░░░░░░░░ We know business owners ░░░░░░░░ t seek out crumbling ░░░░░░░░ and bridges and backed ░░░░░░░░ supply chains They set ░░░░░░░░ shop where the newest ░░░░░░░░ transportation and communications networks ░░░░░░░░ them invent and sell ░░░░░░░░ Made in America to ░░░░░░░░ rest of the world ░░░░░░░░ fast as possible Here ░░░░░░░░ the problem If Congress ░░░░░░░░ t act by the ░░░░░░░░ of this summer federal ░░░░░░░░ for transportation projects will ░░░░░░░░ out States might have ░░░░░░░░ put some of their ░░░░░░░░ on hold In fact ░░░░░░░░ already are because they ░░░░░░░░ worried Congress won t ░░░░░░░░ up its own gridlock ░░░░░░░░ if Congress fails to ░░░░░░░░ nearly 700 000 jobs ░░░░░░░░ be at risk over ░░░░░░░░ next year That s ░░░░░░░░ I put forward a ░░░░░░░░ to rebuild our transportation ░░░░░░░░ in a more responsible ░░░░░░░░ It would support millions ░░░░░░░░ jobs across the country ░░░░░░░░ we d pay for ░░░░░░░░ without adding to the ░░░░░░░░ by closing wasteful tax ░░░░░░░░ for companies that ship ░░░░░░░░ overseas Now the Republicans ░░░░░░░░ Congress seem to have ░░░░░░░░ different priorities Not only ░░░░░░░░ they neglected to prevent ░░░░░░░░ funding from running out ░░░░░░░░ proposal would actually cut ░░░░░░░░ 80 a job creating ░░░░░░░░ program that has funded ░░░░░░░░ priority transportation projects in ░░░░░░░░ 50 states And they ░░░░░░░░ t say it s ░░░░░░░░ save money because at ░░░░░░░░ very same time they ░░░░░░░░ for trillions of dollars ░░░░░░░░ new tax cuts weighted ░░░░░░░░ those at the very ░░░░░░░░ Think about that Instead ░░░░░░░░ putting people to work ░░░░░░░░ projects that would grow ░░░░░░░░ economy for everyone they ░░░░░░░░ to give a huge ░░░░░░░░ cut to households making ░░░░░░░░ than 1 million a ░░░░░░░░ So while Congress decides ░░░░░░░░ it s going to ░░░░░░░░ I ll keep doing ░░░░░░░░ I can on my ░░░░░░░░ On Wednesday I was ░░░░░░░░ New York where workers ░░░░░░░░ building the area s ░░░░░░░░ large new bridge in ░░░░░░░░ years And they re ░░░░░░░░ it ahead of schedule ░░░░░░░░ years ago I took ░░░░░░░░ without Congress to fast ░░░░░░░░ the permitting process for ░░░░░░░░ projects Normally it would ░░░░░░░░ taken three to five ░░░░░░░░ to permit that bridge ░░░░░░░░ did it in a ░░░░░░░░ and a half And ░░░░░░░░ announced a new plan ░░░░░░░░ cut red tape and ░░░░░░░░ up the process for ░░░░░░░░ more projects across the ░░░░░░░░ All these steps will ░░░░░░░░ it easier for businesses ░░░░░░░░ invest in America and ░░░░░░░░ more good jobs All ░░░░░░░░ them can be done ░░░░░░░░ Congress But we could ░░░░░░░░ a lot more if ░░░░░░░░ was willing to help ░░░░░░░░ the meantime I ll ░░░░░░░░ whatever I can not ░░░░░░░░ to make America a ░░░░░░░░ place to do business ░░░░░░░░ to make sure hard ░░░░░░░░ pays off and opportunity ░░░░░░░░ open to all Thanks ░░░░░░░░ have a great weekend.
