Blinken Now many of ░░░░░░░░ have asked how many ░░░░░░░░ S citizens remain in ░░░░░░░░ who want to leave ░░░░░░░░ country Based on our ░░░░░░░░ starting on August 14 ░░░░░░░░ our evacuation operations began ░░░░░░░░ was then a population ░░░░░░░░ as many as 6 ░░░░░░░░ American citizens in Afghanistan ░░░░░░░░ wanted to leave Over ░░░░░░░░ last 10 days roughly ░░░░░░░░ 500 of these Americans ░░░░░░░░ been safely evacuated along ░░░░░░░░ immediate family members Over ░░░░░░░░ past 24 hours we ░░░░░░░░ been in direct contact ░░░░░░░░ approximately 500 additional Americans ░░░░░░░░ provided specific instructions on ░░░░░░░░ to get to the ░░░░░░░░ safely We ll update ░░░░░░░░ regularly on our progress ░░░░░░░░ getting these 500 American ░░░░░░░░ out of Afghanistan For ░░░░░░░░ remaining roughly 1 000 ░░░░░░░░ that we had who ░░░░░░░░ be Americans seeking to ░░░░░░░░ Afghanistan we re aggressively ░░░░░░░░ out to them multiple ░░░░░░░░ a day through multiple ░░░░░░░░ of communication phone email ░░░░░░░░ messaging to determine whether ░░░░░░░░ still want to leave ░░░░░░░░ to get the most ░░░░░░░░ to date information and ░░░░░░░░ to them for how ░░░░░░░░ do so Some may ░░░░░░░░ longer be in the ░░░░░░░░ Some may have claimed ░░░░░░░░ be Americans but turned ░░░░░░░░ not to be Some ░░░░░░░░ choose to stay We ░░░░░░░░ continue to try to ░░░░░░░░ the status and plans ░░░░░░░░ these people in the ░░░░░░░░ days Thus from this ░░░░░░░░ of approximately 1 000 ░░░░░░░░ believe the number of ░░░░░░░░ actively seeking assistance to ░░░░░░░░ Afghanistan is lower likely ░░░░░░░░ lower Having said that ░░░░░░░░ are dynamic calculations that ░░░░░░░░ are working hour by ░░░░░░░░ to refine for accuracy ░░░░░░░░ let me if I ░░░░░░░░ just take a moment ░░░░░░░░ explain why the numbers ░░░░░░░░ difficult to pin down ░░░░░░░░ absolute precision at any ░░░░░░░░ moment And let me ░░░░░░░░ with Americans who are ░░░░░░░░ Afghanistan and we believe ░░░░░░░░ to leave.”
