BERMAN I want to ░░░░░░░░ about the January 6th ░░░░░░░░ House Republican leadership is ░░░░░░░░ telling its membership to ░░░░░░░░ against this commission after ░░░░░░░░ man negotiated a deal ░░░░░░░░ their terms How surprised ░░░░░░░░ you AGUILAR Well it ░░░░░░░░ tough to be surprised ░░░░░░░░ House Republican leadership gets ░░░░░░░░ here But I think ░░░░░░░░ s very clear that ░░░░░░░░ Republican leadership specially Kevin ░░░░░░░░ is trying to whitewash ░░░░░░░░ deadly insurrection that happened ░░░░░░░░ January 6th And so ░░░░░░░░ think it begs the ░░░░░░░░ what is he trying ░░░░░░░░ hide And doesn t ░░░░░░░░ want to get to ░░░░░░░░ truth That s all ░░░░░░░░ re focused on here ░░░░░░░░ s all the commission ░░░░░░░░ be focused on And ░░░░░░░░ s just unfortunate that ░░░░░░░░ Republican leadership is weighing ░░░░░░░░ what has become a ░░░░░░░░ bill and what will ░░░░░░░░ a bipartisan bill when ░░░░░░░░ vote today BERMAN So ░░░░░░░░ McConnell the Senate minority ░░░░░░░░ we just reported behind ░░░░░░░░ doors is going through ░░░░░░░░ his members How many ░░░░░░░░ committees are investigating aspects ░░░░░░░░ the insurrection and saying ░░░░░░░░ may be enough Why ░░░░░░░░ you think that s ░░░░░░░░ enough AGUILAR Well we ░░░░░░░░ an independent review And ░░░░░░░░ the House of Representatives ░░░░░░░░ also have additional tools ░░░░░░░░ order to investigate We ░░░░░░░░ committees as well who ░░░░░░░░ doing the investigation and ░░░░░░░░ asking through oversight question ░░░░░░░░ happened on January 6th ░░░░░░░░ House Administration Committee that ░░░░░░░░ serve on today will ░░░░░░░░ having an important hearing ░░░░░░░░ I think what s ░░░░░░░░ here what the public ░░░░░░░░ is a bipartisan commission ░░░░░░░░ is exactly what Republicans ░░░░░░░░ for with the composition ░░░░░░░░ was evenly split five ░░░░░░░░ five Republicans That s ░░░░░░░░ Ranking Member Katko and ░░░░░░░░ Bennie Thompson negotiated That ░░░░░░░░ meets the parameters And ░░░░░░░░ Republican leadership can t ░░░░░░░░ for an answer BERMAN ░░░░░░░░ s interesting because there ░░░░░░░░ some people out there ░░░░░░░░ why bother having Republicans ░░░░░░░░ with this Former Republican ░░░░░░░░ Bardella who was a ░░░░░░░░ staffer on the Hill ░░░░░░░░ a while he s ░░░░░░░░ the party he said ░░░░░░░░ Republicans to investigate January ░░░░░░░░ is like asking Al ░░░░░░░░ investigate 9 11 the ░░░░░░░░ who helped plan promote ░░░░░░░░ attack aren t going ░░░░░░░░ be partners in the ░░░░░░░░ Is he right AGUILAR ░░░░░░░░ what we re saying ░░░░░░░░ and this is something ░░░░░░░░ we want bipartisanship around ░░░░░░░░ country It s tough ░░░░░░░░ you re under the ░░░░░░░░ to have that bipartisanship ░░░░░░░░ in order to bring ░░░░░░░░ country along we think ░░░░░░░░ bipartisan commission is the ░░░░░░░░ call And keep in ░░░░░░░░ these would not be ░░░░░░░░ of Congress who would ░░░░░░░░ serving These would independent ░░░░░░░░ civil rights law enforcement ░░░░░░░░ individuals who can help ░░░░░░░░ ascertain what happened on ░░░░░░░░ 6th what led up ░░░░░░░░ it and how the ░░░░░░░░ lie that the president ░░░░░░░░ forward and continues to ░░░░░░░░ how that perpetuated what ░░░░░░░░ on January 6th BERMAN ░░░░░░░░ Kevin McCarthy need to ░░░░░░░░ under oath AGUILAR Well ░░░░░░░░ would leave that to ░░░░░░░░ commission who would have ░░░░░░░░ subpoena power again another ░░░░░░░░ that Republicans asked for ░░░░░░░░ they received But it ░░░░░░░░ beg the question what ░░░░░░░░ he afraid of BERMAN ░░░░░░░░ you like to see ░░░░░░░░ him testify under oath ░░░░░░░░ Well I think anyone ░░░░░░░░ to the events and ░░░░░░░░ who talked to command ░░░░░░░░ control on January 6 ░░░░░░░░ have something to say ░░░░░░░░ should be asked hard ░░░░░░░░ And clearly the Republican ░░░░░░░░ discussed with the president ░░░░░░░░ day what was happening ░░░░░░░░ maybe that will be ░░░░░░░░ subject of conversations moving ░░░░░░░░ BERMAN And should the ░░░░░░░░ president be called to ░░░░░░░░ AGUILAR I ll leave ░░░░░░░░ to the commission And ░░░░░░░░ I mean this would ░░░░░░░░ a bipartisan commission They ░░░░░░░░ be allowed to scope ░░░░░░░░ order to get to ░░░░░░░░ findings on what happened ░░░░░░░░ the 6th.”
