Rachel Maddow Connects J.D. Vance to Fascist Attempts to Shut Down Universities in the 1940s
‘J.D. Vance has a plan to do it now’
EXCERPT:
MADDOW: "This is a podcast interview that J.D. Vance did, again, not that long ago. Elizabeth Dilling didn’t succeed in shutting down the University of Chicago or the University of Michigan or UCLA. The fascist activist Allen Zoll didn't succeed in getting Harvard shut down when he tried it in 1949. But J.D. Vance has a plan to do it now, at least to seize Harvard’s endowment and then see what happens. And he has a plan to do this as part of a larger plan to destroy all the things which conservatives don’t have complete control over. And it’s not just the universities, which has, again, on and off, for a century, been a topic of concern of the far-right. But it also, for J.D. Vance, includes the private sector, businesses."
