If Stacey Abrams Supports Manchin’s Voting Bill, It Can’t Be Moderate: Genevieve Wood
EXCERPT:
WOOD: "I mean, look, at the end of day, yes, maybe the original bill was a 10 on the highly progressive government takeover side. This is probably around 7 or 9. I mean, the reality is if Stacey Abrams, if she can still be for it, there are going to be a lot of Republicans and conservatives who say, 'I can’t go for that.' And, look, here’s the problem with that. You can take little pieces here and there. At the end of the day, the concern by many conservatives is that this is an attempt to federalize our elections and take away the rights of the state to both govern and ensure that the people in their states, that their votes are truly counting. This would allow a lot of folks at the Justice Department to come in and say what laws are okay, what laws are not okay, and that's federalizing things. You have government bureaucrats running it, not state lawmakers who are accountable to their people."
