Susan Collins: I Certainly Hope We Don’t Blow Up the Filibuster for Gorsuch

‘So the tradition has been to have a straight up and down vote on every Supreme Court nominee’

EXCERPT:

COLLINS: "I certainly hope not. If you look at our history, there has only been one case in modern times where filibuster has been used to derail a Supreme Court nominee, and that was way back in 1968. So the tradition has been to have a straight up and down vote on every Supreme Court nominee. I believe that’s what Judge Gorsuch deserves and I was heartened yesterday when one of the most senior Democrats, Senator Patrick Leahy, the most senior Democrat said that that is what should occur."
