Meyers: GOP Needs Their Prostate Exams Bec. They Just Pulled Their Health Plan out of Their Asses

‘Republicans think that your insurance plan shouldn’t be required to cover hospitals’

RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
MEYERS: "Now, today Republicans said they would postpone the vote after spending all night frantically rewriting major portions of the bill to try to win over hard line conservatives. So what did they come up with during those negotiations? The changes Republicans are talking about would strip away the essential health benefits included in ObamaCare. These benefits mandate things that insurance companies must cover in all plans, including prescription drugs, pregnancy, maternity and newborn care, and hospitalization. That's right. Republicans think that your insurance plan shouldn't be required to cover hospitals. But don't worry, every American gets one free ride on the cart that picks up your dead. Here's the problem with getting rid of essential health benefits like maternity care. If you don't require all insurance to provide them, no one will. But Republicans just don't seem to understand how this works. For example, today a reporter asked Kansas senator pat Roberts how he felt about repealing the essential health benefits. And Roberts joked, "I wouldn't want to lose my mammograms." That comment outraged many people, including democratic congresswoman Jackie Speier, who replied, "I don't want to lose my prostate cancer screenings either." And Republicans are going to need prostate exams because they clearly pulled this bill out of their asses."
