‘Are We Seriously Wagering?’: Brooke Baldwin Reacts to Guest Wanting to Bet on Trump’s Wiretap Claims (Mediaite)

In the wake of the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee stating that there is no evidence to support President Donald Trump’s claims that his predecessor had wiretapped Trump Tower’s phones prior to the election, CNN’s Brooke Baldwin gathered a panel to discuss.

Towards the end of the conversation, panelists Matt Schlapp and Bill Press got into a bit of a back-and-forth, with Schlapp taking the position that Trump was speaking about surveillance in general while pointing to stories in the mainstream press that purportedly backed up Trump’s assertions.

“Yeah, it’s about trust,” Schlapp said, responding to Baldwin’s question about Trump’s words. “I’m a Republican, I’m a conservative. And if there is proof that the Obama Administration — like the New York Times and Washington Post and other people have written — were surveilling people in the Trump campaign and in the Trump world, I think that’s a big breach of trust. They better have a damn good reason for doing it.”
