BLUMENTHAL: “There is certainly the possibility that surveillance of Russian agents could have picked up contacts and ties between Trump officials and the Russians. In fact, one of the reasons why I think there ought to be a special prosecutor is because of those connections and even possible collusion between the Trump team before or after the election. It is incontrovertible at this point that the Russians interfered with our election process, the bedrock of our democracy. That investigation could well have picked up some contacts between the Trump transition team or even the election team before the election.”
