Castro: Trump’s ‘Declared Open Season’ on Immigrants

‘They basically declared open season on all immigrants’

EXCERPT:

CASTRO: "When we think of -- of deporting people who are criminals, we’re thinking of people who have, you know, committed a kidnapping, a murder, a rape, a burglary, something that we really consider a -- a fundamental crime. Now defined as a crime are also those things that you described, people who come here who are desperate to support their families, that do come up with the Social Security numbers, who by the way are -- are paying taxes, but they’re also being hired by American businesses for cheap labor, and that’s been going on for a long time. So there’s incredible hypocrisy in the entire immigration system. But also as part of the list of offenses that ICE listed to us was something as simple as traffic tickets. So not even forging a Social Security number or other documents, but literally getting a traffic ticket. And so that’s why I made the comment that they basically declared open season on all immigrants except for maybe some DACA recipients."
