Bolton: If Trump’s the Democrat, His Putin Comments Would Be Easier to Understand
EXCERPT:
BOLTON: "Well, if he were on the leftward fringe of the Democratic Party it would be easier to understand. I don't know what he was referring to. I give Vice President Pence high marks for trying to bring it back but I think this is not the way the president should approach dealings with foreign leaders, particularly leaders that are hostile. I think that I'm glad at least that he said he doesn't know whether he will get along with Putin. But fundamentally it doesn't really matter whether he has a good personal relationship with Putin or not. Obviously, personal relationships can be helpful but they aren't dispositive in the hard questions of international relations. I think that's been borne out many, many times, particularly in the difficult relations we've had with Russia both before, during and after the Cold War."
