Rep. Cleaver: I’ve Gotten ‘Hate Phone Calls’ for Decision to Attend Inauguration

‘It’s important for me to come to Washington and to witness the uniquely American peaceful transition to power’

RUSH EXCERPT:
CLEAVER: "Well, each member of Congress is elected from a particular district as the culture in that district. Most of them are responding. They’re hearing from their constituents. Some of them make decisions that I wouldn’t necessarily make, but I don’t think that makes them wrong and me right. I’m right for me. The great challenge for people in public office, particularly in Congress, is to make sure that what we say matches what we do. I’ve talked about, you know, trying to stop the race to the bottom in terms of civility or incivility. It’s important for me to come to Washington and to witness the uniquely American peaceful transition to power."
