Clapper: What We’ve Learned About Hacking Reinforces ‘High Confidence’ Russians Were Responsible

‘We have invested billions, and we put people’s lives at risk to glean such information’

RUSH EXCERPT:
KING: "You’ve stated here that you have high confidence in those conclusions, that the Russians were behind it, that it was intended to interfere with our elections, and that approval went to the highest levels of the Russian government. Have you learned anything subsequently that you can tell is here today to contradict those findings that you publicly stated last October?"
CLAPPER: "No. In fact, if anything, what we have since learned just reinforces that statement of the seventh of October."
KING: "And there was no political intention, you are simply reporting facts as you saw them and I presume that is correct? Your history as one of being nonpolitical."
CLAPPER: "Absolutely. I felt particularly strongly, as did Secretary Johnson, that we owed it to the American electorate, to let them know what we knew."
