Mariah Carey suffered a New Years Nightmare in Times Square, bungling her classic “Emotions” after seeming to forget the lyrics.

Carey’s performance began on a rocky note, as it appeared she needed some assistance walking onto the stage. Carey was segueing  from “Auld Lang Sang” to “Emotions,” but relied on the support of two her backup dancers to move onto the stage.

“Just walk me down,” she told them.

Appearing like she was suffering some sort of technical malfunction, she told the crowd, “I’ll just go through the motions.”

Carey then stared stone faced into the crowd while fiddling with her necklace, looking as if she wasn’t sure what to sing.

“We’re missing some of this overdub, but it is what it is,” she said in lieu of singing. “I’m going to let the audience sing.”

“We didn’t have a sound check, but it’s New Year’s, baby,” she said, waving to the crowd. “Put these monitors on please.”

Despite not singing, Carey’s trademark falsetto notes carried out nonetheless, suggesting she planned lip sync at least parts of her performance.

"I want to have a holiday, too," she ad-libbed at one point. "I'm trying to be a good sport here."

Once the song finally came to an end, she said, "That was ... amazing." Carey then said her next song -- "We Belong Together" -- would be the "album version" and then lip synced the rest of the performance.
